Job summary

Rowan-Cabarrus Community College is seeking an adjunct Philosophy instructor to teach Introduction to Ethics in-person in Salisbury, Concord, or Kannapolis. This is a part-time, term-based faculty position with contracts ending at the term's end.

Applicants must hold a Master’s degree or higher in Philosophy or Ethics (or a Master’s with 18 graduate hours in related coursework). Preference given to LMS experience and QM standards familiarity.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or higher in Philosophy or Ethics.
• Minimum 18 graduate hours in Philosophy and/or Ethics if master’s degree alone.

Responsibilities

• Teach courses in Philosophy program and provide quality instruction to students.
• Teach face-to-face sections during daytime hours in Salisbury, Concord, and/or Kannapolis.
• Contract for a single term; renewal possible for subsequent terms.
• In-person teaching is required; online-only applicants will not be considered.
• Supervised by the Program/Division Chair and Academic Dean.

Position Summary:

Rowan-Cabarrus Community College is hiring adjunct faculty to teach courses in our Philosophy program. The primary responsibility of part-time faculty is to provide quality instruction to students. Adjunct instructors are provided a contract for a single term only. Each contract ends at the end of the term, and a new contract will be provided if the adjunct faculty is hired for another term. An adjunct faculty member is under the management of the Program/Division Chair and supervised by the Academic Dean. This is not an online-only position, but may include online, hyflex, or hybrid classes in the future. All interested applicants must be able to teach in-person, or you will not be considered for the position.

Required Education/Experience:

• Master’s degree or higher in Philosophy or Ethics; or master’s degree with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in related coursework in Philosophy and/or Ethics

Preferred Education/Experience/Skills:

• Experience using learning management systems such as Blackboard, Canvas, or related software
• Experience with Quality Matters standards
