Job summary

The University of Miami is seeking a Faculty Instructional Development Specialist to collaborate with faculty to integrate teaching strategies across disciplines and to reimagine learning goals in higher education.

The role coaches individuals, conducts workshops, and helps design large-scale, campus-wide initiatives that enhance pedagogy in traditional and technology-enabled environments, including hybrid and online instruction.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in a relevant field.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
• Proficiency with standard office software and educational technology.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate with faculty and staff.

Responsibilities

• Consults with instructors, support staff, and administrators regarding the design, development, delivery, and assessment of courses, curricula, and educational programs.
• Advises individuals or groups in synchronous meetings (online or in-person), in drop-in office hours, and over email.
• Collaborates with instructors to collect and interpret student feedback on learning and examine outcomes for instructional activities, strategies, and innovations.
• Stays abreast of current literature regarding educational strategies, pedagogy, and other issues relevant to teaching and learning in higher education.
• Plans and facilitates workshops, symposia, and other events for University-wide audiences.
• Conducts research on relevant topics to inform event and resource design with scholarly approach.
• Assists in communication and promotion efforts related to publicizing events and resources.
• Develops resources on teaching and learning strategies to enhance in-person, hybrid, and online instruction.
• Provides instructional support and contributes to special projects and initiatives such as committees and program assessment.
• Identifies opportunities to leverage expertise to design or enhance university-wide projects.
• Adheres to University policies and safeguards assets.
