Job summary

The Covenant HealthCare College of Medicine at Central Michigan University seeks an Assistant Dean for Faculty Development to provide strategic leadership for faculty growth, education, and scholarly activity. You will oversee programs for educators of medical students and residents and align initiatives with CMU’s mission and accreditation standards.

Qualifications

• Doctoral degree required in a relevant field.
• Meets criteria for Associate Professor or Professor rank.
• Experience in faculty development in an academic setting.
• Strong collaboration in interprofessional education.
• Leadership in medical education and administration.
• Experience mentoring medical school faculty.
• Track record of scholarly activity, preferably in educational research.
• Experience obtaining extramural funding.
• Commitment to innovative pedagogy and learning methods.
• Ability to guide interactive learning in large and small groups.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Office of Faculty Development to implement best practices for appointment, promotion and tenure.
• Mentor department chairs and faculty across clinical, teaching, research, and service missions.
• Allocate time for clinical responsibilities based on qualifications and interests.
• Assist in compiling teaching portfolios and dossiers for advancement and tenure decisions.
• Develop and coordinate programs to improve educational strategies and learner assessment.
• Collaborate with CMU Curriculum and Instruction Support for programming.
• Plan succession and mentoring for discipline chairs; identify training opportunities.
• Establish benchmarks to evaluate program effectiveness and impact.
