Job summary

Rowan-Cabarrus Community College is seeking a full-time Cosmetology Instructor to teach with the flexibility to cover Cosmetic Arts courses as needed. The Cosmetology Instructor is a full-time faculty member who is responsible for conducting assigned day and/or evening classes of instruction.

The Cosmetology Instructor participates in maintaining the curriculum in a comprehensive, current, and employer-responsive manner while observing all infection control and regulatory board expectations.

Qualifications

• A.A.S. degree in Cosmetology or related field.
• Current North Carolina Licensure as a Cosmetology Instructor.
• Current North Carolina cosmetology license.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, manage, and deliver course content to meet objectives and outcomes.
• Actively engage students and provide prompt, respectful feedback.
• Update syllabus and follow administrative directions.
• Collaborate with support services to address student needs.
• Utilize college technology and LMS, email, calendars, and SIS for instruction and operations.
• Meet deadlines and maintain accurate class and employee records.
• Ensure labs are stocked and equipment is safe as applicable.
• Support mentoring, advising, and recruitment efforts when required.
• Participate in professional development to enhance knowledge and licensure where applicable.
• Maintain a positive, student-centered environment among students, faculty and staff.
• Attend college meetings, events, and committees as appropriate.

Position Summary::

Required Education/Experience::

• A.A.S. Degree
• Current North Carolina Licensure as a Cosmetology Instructor.
• Current North Carolina cosmetology license.

Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities::

• Experience with technology in the classroom, including e-books, Pivot-Point L.A.B., Canvas (or similar programs). School management applications for keeping grades, performances and time clock management for students.
• Knowledge of NC State Board of Cosmetic Arts, rules and regulations
• Knowledge of MS Office Applications and cloud based file management.
• Must be committed to the open door philosophy and have excellent team building skills.

Duty and Responsibility:

1. Successfully prepare, manage, and deliver course content in order to achieve course objectives, accommodate diverse learning styles, and meet student learning outcomes.

2. Actively engage students and provide prompt feedback in an objective, respectful, and effective manner.

3. Update, communicate and follow course syllabus content in accordance with directions provided and administrative guidance.

4. Work collaboratively with the College's support services to identify and address the students' academic support needs.

5. Utilize College technology for the delivery of instruction and completion of operational processes; this includes but is not limited to the College's learning management system, email and calendaring solution, document management system(s), student information system, and employee portals.

6. Meet deadlines, including maintaining and submitting accurate class records, employee records/requests, and other assigned tasks.

7. When applicable, ensure laboratories are appropriately stocked with required supplies and equipment is in safe operating order.

8. Support student mentoring, advising, registration and recruitment efforts, as appropriate or required.

9. Participate in professional development opportunities (selected or assigned) in order to enhance and apply knowledge/skills within the discipline, to effectively utilize required course technology and College applications, and to maintain licensures (as applicable).

10. Facilitate a positive, student-centered, and professional environment among students, faculty and staff.

11. Participate in College meetings, events, and committees as appropriate or required.

12. Attend and participate in the annual graduation ceremony.
