Wilkes Community College is seeking an Adjunct Instructor for the Cosmetology program at the Wilkes Campus. The role involves teaching a range of cosmetology courses, maintaining student records, and supporting program goals through professional development and committee work.
Required credentials include current NC State Board of Cosmetic Arts license and an Instructor License from the NC Board of Cosmetic Art Examiners.

An instructor’s primary responsibility is to maintain excellence in instructing students in the cosmetology program to attain student learning outcomes. In addition to primary responsibilities, instructors will complete classroom administrative duties and support the goals of WCC through committee service and professional development.
Work is performed primarily under general supervision in an office or classroom with appropriate climate controls. Travel, early morning, evening, and weekend work may be required.
Essential functions: lifting, manual dexterity, communication, ability to sit/stand for long periods, mobility between classrooms and buildings, expression of ideas, good eye/hand coordination.
Light work: lifting or carrying up to 10 pounds, frequent lifting up to 20 pounds, walking, standing, and some pushing/pulling of arms or legs.
Mental application: utilizes memory for details and content, verbal instructions, emotional stability, critical thinking, adaptability, and creative problem-solving skills.
$15 per hour without instructor course, $26.38 per hour for Associates Degree.
