Job summary

Rowan-Cabarrus Community College is seeking adjunct faculty to teach courses in our Communications program on campus in Concord, Salisbury, and Kannapolis. This is not online-only and may include hybrid or online future classes. Applicants must be able to teach in-person to be considered.

Required qualifications include a Master’s degree in Communication or related field. Faculty will prepare, deliver, and assess course content while engaging diverse learners and collaborating with campus

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Communication or related field.
  • Ability to teach in-person in Concord, Salisbury, or Kannapolis.
  • Experience teaching Communications courses preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Successfully prepare, manage, and deliver course content in order to achieve course objectives, accommodate diverse learning styles, and meet student learning outcomes.
  • Actively engage students and provide prompt feedback in an objective, respectful, and effective manner.
  • Communicate and follow course syllabus content in accordance with directions provided and administrative guidance.
  • Work collaboratively with the College’s support services to identify and address the students’ academic support needs.
  • Utilize College technology for the delivery of instruction and completion of operational processes; this includes but is not limited to the College’s learning management system, email and calendaring solution, document management system(s), student information system, and employee portals.
  • Meet deadlines, including maintaining and submitting accurate class records, employee records/requests, and other assigned tasks.
  • When applicable, ensure laboratories are appropriately stocked with required supplies and equipment is in safe operating order.
  • Facilitate a positive, student-centered, and professional environment among students, faculty and staff.

Faculty - Communications (Adjunct)

Position Summary

Rowan-Cabarrus Community College is hiring adjunct faculty to teach courses in our Communications program. Faculty may teach COM 110, COM 231, COM 140, COM 150, and/or COM 120 face-to-face on campus in Concord, Salisbury, and/or Kannapolis. This is not an online-only position, but may include online, hyflex, or hybrid classes in the future. All interested applicants must be able to teach in-person, or you will not be considered for the position.

Required Education/Experience
  • Master’s degree in Communication or Communication Studies; or master’s degree with a concentration in Communication (a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching discipline – COM).
