Qualifications

  • Ability to teach across multiple modalities including face-to-face, hybrid, and online.
  • Experience with instructional technology and video/media production is a plus.

SUMMARY

Minimum Salary $46,628.09

Salary offer commensurate with education and related experience.

This is a Full-Time 9-month/tenure track faculty position, with a start date of January 2027.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Requires flexible work schedule to meet program needs, which may include working days, evenings and/or weekends.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Provides instruction in Communication courses across multiple teaching modalities, including face-to-face, hybrid, and online formats. Courses may be taught at various College locations, local ISD high schools, and Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) facilities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Teach and supervise students in assigned Communication courses across various instructional formats, times, and locations.
  • Prepare course syllabi, instructional materials, and assessments in accordance with College standards.
  • Deliver engaging instruction using effective teaching methodologies, technology, classroom media, and educational resources.
  • Assess student performance, provide timely feedback, and maintain required academic records and reports.
  • Advise and support students regarding academic progress and connect them with appropriate College resources.
  • Utilize technology and Learning Management Systems to support face-to-face, hybrid, and online instruction.
  • Participate in curriculum development, program assessment, student recruitment, retention, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Maintain current knowledge of instructional practices, communication technologies, and evolving technological needs.
  • Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, College administration, and the community.
  • Participate in institutional meetings, committees, and professional development activities.
  • Adhere to College policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master’s degree in Communication; or master’s degree with at least 18 graduate hours in Communication or a related field.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Three (3) years of professional media production and/or broadcast experience.
  • Working knowledge of Blackboard or similar Learning Management Systems
  • Bilingual – English/Spanish.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Adobe production software.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general computer applications.
  • Knowledge of interactive, technology-supported, and online instructional methods.
  • Ability to adapt to changing instructional technologies and delivery methods.
  • Commitment to student success, instructional excellence, and the College’s core values.
