Job summary

The Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) School of Medicine in Lubbock, TX, seeks a Faculty Associate with anatomy expertise to join the Department of Medical Education. You will advance educational missions, teach anatomy, participate in P3 curriculum, and support prosection-based learning and research.

Responsibilities include coordinating dissection, aligning content with objectives, and contributing to laboratory assessments and scholarly activities within DOME.

Qualifications

  • Mastery of human anatomy concepts and cadaver-based teaching methods.
  • Experience coordinating dissection and laboratory instruction with curricular objectives.
  • Ability to integrate anatomy content across block courses and assess learning outcomes.
  • Strong collaboration with faculty across basic and clinical sciences.

Position Description

The Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) School of Medicine in Lubbock, Texas, is seeking a Faculty Associate with expertise and experience in human anatomy to join the Department of Medical Education (DOME). The successful candidate will be actively working toward completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in anatomical sciences or a closely related discipline, with the expectation that the terminal degree will be completed within one year of the initial hire date.

Position Description

The Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) School of Medicine in Lubbock, Texas, is seeking a Faculty Associate with expertise and experience in human anatomy to join the Department of Medical Education (DOME). The successful candidate will be actively working toward completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in anatomical sciences or a closely related discipline, with the expectation that the terminal degree will be completed within one year of the initial hire date.

The Faculty Associate will contribute to the educational, scholarly, and service missions of the Department of Medical Education and School of Medicine. Responsibilities will include teaching, assessment, participation in course and block activities, educational scholarship, and academic service. The individual will participate in Anatomy, Histology, and Embryology (AHE) and other organ-system blocks, as needed and aligned with departmental expertise.

The Faculty Associate will also serve as a small-group facilitator in the Patients, Physicians, and Populations (P3) curriculum and participate in School of Medicine and departmental committees and activities as appropriate.

Major/Essential Functions
  • Coordinate dissection, laboratory teaching, and lab-based assessments with appropriate block leadership;
  • Ensure alignment of anatomical content and laboratory activities with curricular learning objectives and assessment strategies;
  • Participate in dissection, prosection-based instruction, small-group teaching, and simulation-based learning;
  • Collaborate with anatomy, basic science, and clinical faculty to support the integration of clinically relevant anatomy throughout the medical curriculum;
  • Development and quality assurance of prosections and other instructional materials;
  • Collaboration in the development, implementation, and grading of laboratory assessments;
  • Coordination of anatomy laboratory teaching personnel and resources;
  • Evaluation and improvement of anatomy laboratory instruction; and
  • Participate in educational research and scholarly activities within DOME, including collaborative projects related to medical education, anatomy education, curriculum, assessment, and student learning.
Required Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in anatomy, anatomical sciences, biomedical sciences, or a closely related discipline.
  • Current enrollment and demonstrated progress in a Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree program in anatomical sciences or a closely related discipline, with anticipated completion within one year of the initial hire date.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of human anatomy and experience with cadaver-based anatomy education.
  • Experience teaching anatomy through dissection, prosection, laboratory, small-group, or other active-learning approaches.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students within an integrated medical curriculum.
  • Demonstrated commitment to excellence in medical or health professions education.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience developing or administering anatomy laboratory assessments, including practical examinations.
  • Experience integrating clinical applications into anatomy instruction.
  • Experience with small-group or team-based learning.
  • Experience with simulation-based or other innovative approaches to anatomy education.
  • Experience or demonstrated interest in medical education research and scholarship.
  • Evidence of scholarly activity, including abstracts, presentations, publications, or participation in educational research.
  • Interest in developing toward future course or block leadership responsibilities.
