Saint Louis University is seeking a non-tenure track Academic Fieldwork Coordinator for the Master’s in Occupational Therapy program. The role focuses on clinically grounded student learning, teaching in area of expertise, scholarly activity, and service to the Doisy College of Health Sciences.

The candidate will coordinate Level I/II fieldwork, align field experiences with curriculum, and liaise with sites and educators to support students’ development in line with program goals.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree required.
• Licensed occupational therapist with at least five years of practice.
• At least three years as fieldwork educator for Level I/II or teaching experience at college/university level.
• Currently licensed in Missouri or eligible for licensure.
• Evidence of clinical education and university teaching experience.
• Experience as a clinical instructor and/or site coordinator of clinical education.
• Preferred: terminal doctoral degree (OTD or other doctoral degree).
• University teaching experience and peer‑reviewed scholarship preferred.

Position Overview

This position has an anticipated start date of January 2026 and will have 50% time dedicated to the role as Academic Fieldwork Coordinator. We are seeking talented candidates to provide clinically focused learning opportunities for students. The successful candidate will be expected to teach in an area of expertise, engage in scholarship, and provide service to the Department, College, and/or University.

Primary Responsibilities

• Collaboration with faculty to ensure the fieldwork program reflects the sequence and scope of curricular content to design fieldwork experiences strengthening the ties between didactic and fieldwork education
• Matching and assigning students to fieldwork placements and advise students of the overall fieldwork (LevelI and LevelII) process and program
• Communication with students and fieldwork educators related to student progress and performance during fieldwork experiences
• Representing the Program at various trainings, meetings, conferences, and clinical site visits

Program Context

The Master’s in Occupational Therapy Program is housed within the Doisy College of Health Sciences (DoisyCollege.slu.edu). Faculty have access to classrooms and laboratories with state-of-the-art teaching and research technologies. Fieldwork coordination responsibilities are supported by staff in both the department and Dean’s office related to site identification and management of contracts. The Paul C. Reinert, S.J. Center for Transformative Teaching and Learning provides faculty resources to assist in designing meaningful and engaging classroom experiences.

Compensation & Benefits

The competitive total compensation package includes tuition remission for qualified personnel and a generous retirement plan. Rank and salary are dependent on qualifications and experience.

Position Requirements

• Required Minimum of a master’s degree
• Licensed occupational therapist with at least five years of practice experience
• At least three years of experience as a fieldwork educator for Level I and/or Level II fieldwork and/or instructing students in a classroom or lab environment at the college or university level.
• Currently licensed as an occupational therapist or eligible for licensure in the state of Missouri
• Evidence of current content expertise including clinical education
• Evidence of teaching experience (e.g., course instructor, continuing education, conference presentations)
• Served as a clinical instructor and/or site coordinator of clinical education
• Preferred Terminal doctoral degree:Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD) or academic doctoral degree (e.g., Ph.D., Sc.D., Ed.D.)
• Evidence of University teaching experience (e.g., course coordinator, laboratory instructor, or lecturer)
• Record of peer-reviewed scholarship
