Job summary

Janicki Industries, Inc. is seeking an experienced engineer to develop AI-assisted scheduling and control systems for a new machining facility in Montana and Washington.

The role focuses on coordinating a floor of ~25 five-axis mills, on-site work, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to build a robust scheduling/automation platform. The position requires 5+ years building production systems, a strong background in scheduling/optimization, and proficiency in Python or other listed

Qualifications

• 5+ years building production systems that ran unattended with real consequences
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred
• Fluency in English and strong communication skills
• Willingness to work and travel in MT and WA and spend real time on the floor
• US Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident due to ITAR/EAR regulations

Responsibilities

• Support a production floor with approximately 25 five-axis mills
• Coordinate AGV/AMR pallet shuttling, chip evacuation, and cutter delivery
• Enable robotic billet handling, clamping, and work preparation
• Build a scheduling and sequencing engine to minimize spindle wait
• Develop traffic management, zone control, and deadlock recovery for the central lane
• Create integration services for SAP, tool life, machine state, and MES
• Develop simulation and digital-twin tooling for high-volume testing
• Create operator interfaces for visibility and control
• Define problems, constraints, interfaces, and acceptance criteria before coding
