Frontmatec is seeking a skilled layout designer to create factory layouts using AutoCAD 2D and Inventor 3D, ensuring safety and efficiency. You will compile equipment lists for bids, integrate electrical components, and release designs to production via AX ERP.
The role requires collaboration with sales engineering, providing layout presentations, and occasional client visits in North America. Strong drafting skills and attention to detail are essential.
A successful candidate will be responsible for designing, optimizing, modifying, and drafting factory layout plans using 2D software such as AutoCAD and 3D software such as Inventor and Navisworks. They will also be required to compile lists of equipment needed for projects, including specifications for bids, detailed drawings, and production. Finally, they will provide support to the sales department and other departments on matters related to their area of expertise.
Design factory layouts taking into account customer requirements while respecting required health and safety standards, as well as the standards provided in the library, to ensure that project costs and timelines are minimized;
Based on a 2D or 3D layout drawing, design a detailed 3D elevation (using Inventor and Factory Design software) including: suspension systems, Frontmatec equipment, and existing customer equipment;
Prepare parts lists for each piece of equipment (bill of materials) for the estimating team to provide an accurate project price;
Using a layout and an Excel spreadsheet provided by the electrical department, the job holder must integrate the electrical components into their project (buttons, remote controls, panels, etc.);
Release the items for production using the ERP software (Microsoft AX);
Number and list the equipment required for the project to provide detailed information to the bidding department, clients, and other departments;
Prepare drawings for approval, factory integration, and customer installation;
Complete the line transfer document to support the detailing department;
Modify the elevation as needed and keep the master plan up to date after installation;
Collaborate with sales engineering to present layout plans and ensure the project meets the specifications;
Organize and lead various meetings related to your projects;
Conduct occasional technical visits to clients in North America;
Perform point cloud scans and evaluate existing equipment at the client's site using a 3D scanner;
Optimize designs by considering manufacturing costs/timelines and ease of equipment installation;
Ensure that Frontmatec's health and safety standards, as well as applicable laws and regulations (OSHA and LSST), are followed in the factory and at the client's site.
Proficiency in the Autodesk suite: AutoCAD (2D), Inventor, and Vault, Factory Design
Knowledge of 3D visualization software (Navisworks) and point cloud software (ReCap)
Basic knowledge of an ERP system (Microsoft AX) (Item creation and issuance)
Proficiency in reading 2D and 3D drawings
Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)
