Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Facility Technician II provides maintenance duties in Facilities across the Health First Integrated Delivery Network (IDN) including inspections, repairs, and preventive maintenance of buildings, grounds, and applicable equipment. The Facility Technician II supports the adherence to all safety, efficiency, and reliability standards of facilities by leveraging comprehensive knowledge of Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing systems across all on‑site and off‑site locations.

Primary Accountabilities
  • Performs various maintenance activities such as inspections, adjustments, and repairs on applicable equipment, facilities, and systems in accordance with established schedules and workflow procedures.
  • Delivers excellent service to Associates, patients, and visitors, ensuring professionalism and courtesy in each interaction.
  • Supports continuous operational readiness of Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing equipment by diagnosing and issuing repairs on applicable equipment, often assisting with installation, repair, and preventive maintenance of facility fixtures, finishes, and systems such as lighting, ceilings, flooring and walls.
  • Maintains documentation for all work conducted within the computerized maintenance management system (TMA/FMP) by 24‑hours of completion for each task performed.
  • Assists responses to emergent requests, such as STAT calls, to minimize possible downtime and ensure safety of all Associates, patients, and visitors.
  • Maintains, stores and operates applicable tools and equipment, properly cleaning and lubricating all equipment to reduce maintenance service delays, while overseeing inventory of parts, supplies, and materials as needed.
  • Ensures adherence to Health First, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) facilities standards, applying all safety practices and protocols in all work performed.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Work Experience: One (1) year of experience in comparable maintenance work.
  • Licensure: Driver’s License and clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) maintained.
  • Certification: None
  • Education In Lieu of Work Experience: Completion of Health First Facilities Apprenticeship Program.
  • Work Experience In Lieu of Education: Additional two (2) years’ experience in comparable maintenance work.
  • Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
    • Ability to provide and maintain required hand tools (job‑specific power tools provided).
    • Basic knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
    • Proficiency with hand and power tools used in maintenance work.
    • Ability to perform basic carpentry, painting, and drywall repairs.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to work independently, adapt to changing duties, and respond effectively to emergencies.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Education: Graduate of applicable Trade School.
Physical Requirements
  • Physically agile; may require walking, standing, running, bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing, or crouching frequently.
  • May occasionally include lifting or moving objects up to 50 pounds, with or without assistance.
  • May require moving in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces, including reaching over shoulders or overhead.
  • May lift, turn, pull, push, or ambulate people and/or equipment with or without assistance up to 90% of the assigned shift.
  • May be exposed to inside and outside environments with varied temperatures, air quality, lighting, and/or low to loud noise.
  • May require working with biohazards such as blood/body fluids and airborne particles following OSHA and CDC guidelines.
  • Communicating with others to exchange information.
  • Visual acuity and hand‑eye coordination to perform tasks.
  • Workspace may vary from open to confined.
  • May require travel to various facilities within and beyond county perimeter; may require use of personal vehicle.
