Job summary

Ashley Furniture is hiring a Facility Maintenance Technician to maintain and repair building systems across manufacturing, warehouse, and office spaces. You’ll perform preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshoot HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical equipment, and support facility operations with a hands-on, safety‑minded approach.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in maintenance, reads blueprints, and can work independently or in a team.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 3+ years of facility/industrial maintenance experience.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and manuals.
  • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical equipment.
  • Maintain building infrastructure (doors, windows, walls, floors, ceilings, lighting, panels, power distribution).
  • Service boilers, cooling, compressed air, fire protection, and dock equipment.
  • Conduct plumbing and HVAC repairs and diagnose components.
  • Follow CMMS tasks, lubricate machinery, replace filters, track performance.

Facility Maintenance Technician

The Facility Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing building systems, equipment, and facilities to ensure a safe, efficient, and productive work environment. This position performs preventive maintenance, responds to repair requests, and supports facility operations across our manufacturing, warehouse, and office spaces. The ideal candidate is a skilled tradesperson with broad maintenance experience who can work independently and as part of a team to keep our facilities operating at peak performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenanceon building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical equipment, conveyor systems, and dock equipment
  • Maintain building infrastructureincluding doors, windows, walls, floors, ceilings, roofing, lighting systems, electrical panels, and power distribution equipment
  • Service critical building systemsincluding boilers, cooling systems, compressed air systems, fire protection systems (sprinklers, alarms), and overhead doors/dock levelers
  • Conduct plumbing and HVAC repairsincluding pipes, fixtures, drains, water systems, air handlers, ductwork, thermostats, and climate controls
  • Execute preventive maintenance programfollowing scheduled tasks, inspecting equipment to identify potential failures, lubricating machinery, changing filters, and tracking performance in CMMS
  • Ensure safety and regulatory complianceby conducting regular inspections, following OSHA standards and building codes, maintaining lockout/tagout procedures, and identifying/correcting safety hazards
  • Maintain accurate documentationof all maintenance activities, repairs, inspections, and work orders; coordinate with contractors and vendors for specialized repairs
  • Perform exterior and grounds maintenanceincluding parking lots, sidewalks, snow removal, exterior lighting, drainage management, and perimeter security features
  • Monitor energy efficiencyby identifying improvement opportunities, adjusting building systems for optimal performance, and replacing inefficient equipment
  • Respond to emergency maintenance requestspromptly, participate in on-call rotation for after-hours emergencies, and provide backup support to other maintenance staff
Qualifications
Required
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3+ years of experience in facility maintenance, building maintenance, or industrial maintenance
  • Strong knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical systems
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals
  • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment
  • Valid driver's license required
  • Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 75 lbs) and work at heights using ladders and lifts
  • Strong problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Preferred
  • Technical school training or apprenticeship in electrical, HVAC, or industrial maintenance
  • Forklift and aerial lift certification
  • Welding certification or demonstrated welding skills
  • Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)
  • Boiler operator license
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
  • Experience in manufacturing or warehouse environments
Technical Skills
  • Electrical troubleshooting and repair (120V-480V systems)
  • Plumbing installation and repair
  • HVAC diagnostics and service
  • Pneumatic and hydraulic systems
  • Basic carpentry and construction
  • Welding (MIG, stick, or TIG)
  • Building automation systems knowledge
