The Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) is looking for a Full-Time Facility Space Planner, GS-0020-12 to work at HQ ACC, 366 Fighter Wing, 366 Civil Engineer Squadron, Engineering Flight (CEN), Portfolio Optimization Element (CENP), Mountain Home AFB, ID.

Seeking a sharp engineer to work on a small team with Community Planner, Project Programmer, Real Property Specialists, and Project Managers to identify customer space needs and assign space to fulfill a variety of AF missions. Join this exciting and rewarding team to make a difference!

Qualifications/Requirements

The incumbent will serve as a facility space planning professional at an Air Force (AF) installation responsible for managing activities related to human as well as physical aspects of facility planning, to include utilization, optimization, and project planning/programming in support of an installation. Projects and problems are of such size that the incumbent must divide the projects so that others can carry portions to completion. Assignments typically require interpretation or extension of policy guides, substantial modification of techniques and procedures, or the development of innovative approaches to solve specific problems.

• U.S. Citizenship is required.
• Required to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance.
• Education requirements: Degree: community planning; or related field such as urban affairs, architecture, landscape architecture, engineering, sociology, geography, economics, political science, or public administration that included at least 12 semester hours in the planning process, socioeconomic and physical elements of planning, urban and regional economic analysis, and development finance.

Applicants with degrees in related fields, such as those listed above, who do not have the 12 semester hours of specified course work must have had at least 1 year of work experience in community planning acquired under the supervision and guidance of a community planner.

OR

Combination of education and experience: courses equivalent to a major in one of the above disciplines, or a combination of related courses totaling at least 24 semester hours in any combination of the above disciplines of which at least 12 semester hours were in the planning process, and socioeconomic and physical elements of planning, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

• Professional knowledge of engineering/planning concepts, principles, practices, standards, methods, and techniques to effectively apply theories, principles, and concepts to installation facility space management, planning, and optimization programs.
• Knowledge to gather and analyze facts, draw conclusions, and devise solutions to complex facility space planning problems that require interpretation or extension of policy guides and substantial modification of techniques and procedures.
• Experience leveraging Air Force Information Technology (IT) innovations and Authoritative Data Sources, such as the AF Geospatial Integration Management Systems, SMS, and NexGen IT.
• Demonstrates knowledge and prior use of data collection, analysis and representation tools such as project tracking and data management software programs, field survey technology, Geographic Information System (GIS) and Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) applications, and data science and analysis platforms.
