PURPOSE

The Columbia Public School district is seeking a Roofer to repair, replace, inspect and maintenance multiple roof types throughout the district. Carpentry will be a secondary duty for the selected applicant.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

• Roof inspections, repairs, replacements and maintenance
• Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies
• Performs time and material estimates for repairs and renovation projects
• Carpentry duties include but are not limited to new construction, renovations and repairs; building walls; window repairs, door and lock repairs; furniture repairs
• Understands and adheres to Board policies and procedures

Perform other duties as necessary to support the mission and vision of Columbia Public School District.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum: High School Diploma or equivalent. Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions related to work assignments; Knowledge of the safe use of supplies and equipment; Knowledge of, or willingness to learn, building cleaning and maintenance procedures; Ability to maintain a cooperative and positive relationship with other people.

Preferred: Welding/Fabricating Experience.

The ideal candidate:

Licensed Roofer,comfortable working on elevated platforms,Strong mental dexterity with a keen eye for detail,
5 years of roofing experience. Experience working with various types of roofing materials.

Also will have a professional and friendly demeanor with a demonstrated ability to work well with a variety of individuals in a fast-paced environment.

ADA REQUIREMENTS

Language: Read and write in the English language; Interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedural; Write routine reports and memos; Respond to requests from staff members. These are essential functions of the job.

The employee is frequently required to reach, climb, bend, squat, stoop and kneel; The employee continuously uses hand strength to grasp and use tools and climb ladders; The employee must frequently lift or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 100 pounds; The employee will frequently push or pull items such as desks, furniture, and mechanical equipment; Specific vision requirements include close and peripheral vision and depth perception.
