Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Identifies and corrects building/equipment issues, working on highly complex assignments requiring independent initiative and problem‑solving skills.
- Determines methods and procedures for new assignments independently.
- Reads and analyzes electrical circuits, wiring ladder diagrams, blueprints, maintenance manuals, and engineering sketches.
- Uses complicated drawings, specifications, and precision measuring instruments.
- Performs equipment installations, repairs, calibrations, service, and replacement of electrical devices and power generation equipment; tests components and uses handheld tools and meters to determine repairs.
- Utilizes common computer programs, researches products, equipment, manuals, and parts; communicates effectively.
- Responds to 24‑hour emergency calls for assigned work areas, performing emergency building or equipment repairs during off‑duty hours.
- Repairs, replaces, or installs plumbing systems and components; removes blockages to restore wastewater flow.
- Installs, performs preventative maintenance, inspection, repair, and replacement of equipment; conducts floor and wall repairs.
- Responds to emergencies efficiently and promptly.
- Communicates orally with team members, co‑workers, employees, contractors, and vendors.
Qualifications
- At least three years as a Facilities Maintenance Worker.
- Journey‑level certification in one or more primary fields (electrical, electronics, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, vacuum systems).
- Education or technical training in related fields, such as a technical trade school or accredited college or university, may substitute up to two years of experience, typically an AA degree.
Physical Requirements
- Lifting up to 50 lbs on occasion.
Work in adverse conditions such as tight or enclosed spaces, heights, temperature extremes, indoors or outdoors, to complete assignments.
Safety Requirements
- Maintains equipment in a safe condition; prevents degradation of property and system failures.
- Follows safety standards: Electrical NFPA 70E, LOTO & Arc flash, Chemical Hazmat regulations, wastewater management.
- Works safely with hand tools, machines, mechanical equipment, pneumatic equipment, electrical equipment, and power tools.
All employees must follow site EHS procedures and Coherent Corp. Corporate EHS standards.
Quality and Environmental Responsibilities
May be responsible for execution and maintenance of ISO 9000, 9001, 14001 or other applicable standards, as per Quality Management System and Environmental Management System.
