Job summary

Los Alamos National Laboratory seeks an Operator 4/5 to support day-to-day operations at TA-55 facilities in Los Alamos, NM. The role will be filled at Operator 4 or 5 level depending on candidate's skills, reporting to the Equipment Operations Supervisor.

Qualified applicants will have extensive knowledge of facility instrumentation, control systems, and safety procedures, plus experience with problem solving, drawings, and procedures. DOE directives and shift work are part of the job.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience and understanding of equipment operations.
• Verbatim procedure compliance.
• Hazard identification and analysis.
• Configuration management and control systems knowledge.
• Reading engineering, electrical and mechanical drawings/specifications.
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication.
• Lock-out/tag-out policies and procedures expertise.
• Knowledge of LCO (TSR) and Integrated Safety Management concepts.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor critical safety systems per operating instructions.
• Support day-to-day operations of TA-55 facilities.
• Follow process sheets or written/verbal directions; diagnose and report errors.
• Work with multiple systems and equipment; engage in technical tasks in operations, maintenance, science or engineering.
• Provide support in operations, construction, and design of facility systems.
• Ensure compliance with safety and procedure requirements and shiftwork as needed.
