Facility Operations Specialist (Facility Manager)

Key Responsibilities

This position is located in the Facilities Department at a Federal Prison Camp. The incumbent serves as the Facility Manager of the institution and is responsible for the planning, direction, and management of all maintenance, repair, alterations, and construction projects. The incumbent manages a workforce comprising of civilian and inmate workers.

Incumbent is responsible for the organization, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the construction program of the institution. Resolves all difficult or technical problems arising on a day-to-day basis in connection with the operation of the department. This includes responsibility for the supervision of existing and new construction projects and of repair and improvement projects.

Renovation construction projects typically involve funding ranging from several thousand dollars to in excess of one million dollars. The incumbent is responsible for the overall supervision of all utilities at the institution. Along with all other correctional institution employees, incumbent is charged with responsibility for maintaining security of the institution.

The staff correctional responsibilities precede all others required by this position and are performed on a regular and recurring basis.
