Job summary

Hillsides in Pasadena seeks an on-duty manager to oversee supervision, direct care, and safety across campus programs. You will respond to client needs, coordinate activities, and coordinate with staff to maintain high-quality care and safety standards.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the on-duty manager responsible for overall supervision, direct care, protection, and safety of clients and staff across all campus-based programs, including STRTP, THPP-NMD, and HillsidesCares.
  • Support client participation in daily programming by responding to individual needs, encouraging engagement, and assisting with conflict resolution and behavioral support in the milieu.
  • Collaborate with unit supervisors and direct care staff to ensure the smooth coordination and supervision of planned client activities.
  • Provide operational oversight of the Campus Support Office, ensuring consistent adherence to policies, procedures, and licensing requirements.
  • Triage and respond to client crises, ensuring appropriate documentation, staff support, and client-centered interventions.
  • Lead or coordinate campus-wide disaster preparedness and response procedures, including response to natural disasters, medical emergencies, lockdowns, evacuations, and fire drills.
  • Greet and orient external visitors including placement workers, mental health providers, family members, law enforcement, and other stakeholders who arrive on campus.

Starting Salary Range: $20.14- $23.00

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The essential functions include:

  • Serve as the on-duty manager responsible for overall supervision, direct care, protection, and safety of clients and staff across all campus-based programs, including STRTP, THPP-NMD, and HillsidesCares.
  • Support client participation in daily programming by responding to individual needs, encouraging engagement, and assisting with conflict resolution and behavioral support in the milieu.
  • Collaborate with unit supervisors and direct care staff to ensure the smooth coordination and supervision of planned client activities.
  • Provide operational oversight of the Campus Support Office, ensuring consistent adherence to policies, procedures, and licensing requirements.
  • Triage and respond to client crises, ensuring appropriate documentation, staff support, and client-centered interventions are utilized.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with external parties including local law enforcement, EMS, fire department, and other first responders during calls for support or campus emergencies.
  • Initiate and complete Missing Persons Reports when necessary, and track related follow-up and communication.
  • Maintain a consistent and visible physical presence across campus to monitor safety and offer support to staff and clients.
  • Provide supervisory and administrative guidance to child care staff and youth advocates when unit supervisors are not present or during unplanned absences.
  • Coordinate staffing reassignments to maintain required staff-to-client ratios and ensure adequate supervision across all cottages and units.
  • Respond to behavioral incidents, runaways, substance use concerns, and other high-risk situations using trauma-informed, Pro-ACT-aligned behavioral intervention techniques.
  • Conduct and oversee regular campus and cottage safety rounds to monitor for hazards, maintenance needs, and client wellness.
  • Review and screen all off-campus trips to ensure client readiness, safety, and ratio compliance in coordination with unit supervisors.
  • Monitor and screen all campus visitors and ensure that entry protocols are followed to maintain safety and confidentiality.
  • Lead or coordinate campus-wide disaster preparedness and response procedures, including response to natural disasters, medical emergencies, lockdowns, evacuations, and fire drills.
  • Provide oversight and approval for line-of-sight supervision plans and ensure supervision needs are met per individualized client requirements.
  • Greet and orient external visitors including placement workers, mental health providers, family members, law enforcement, and other stakeholders who arrive on campus.
  • When necessary coach and support NMDs in developing and maintaining daily living skills such as personal hygiene, meal preparation, money management, and time management.
  • When necessary support the nursing department with tasks related to clients ongoing medical care including providing support for daily living skills,
  • Support documentation and communication related to admissions and discharges that occur during the shift, ensuring paperwork is appropriately handled and passed along to designated staff for follow-up.
