Job summary

We Ship Express is expanding with a new Fredericksburg, TX distribution center. The Facility Manager will initially perform daily warehouse operations and operate a company delivery van as startup activities, then hire and mentor a growing team as the site scales.

The role requires hands-on leadership, strong warehouse operations knowledge, and willingness to drive process improvements. Local candidates are encouraged to apply for this on-site position in Fredericksburg.

Qualifications

• Leadership experience managing warehouse or distribution center operations.

Responsibilities

• Lead and participate in daily warehouse operations including receiving, shipping, fulfillment, inventory control, packing and order processing.
• Operate a company delivery van to perform pickups and deliveries, ensuring proper loading, securing and timely transport.
• Assist with setting up and developing operations at a new distribution facility, including processes and workflows.
• Maintain an active hands-on presence, performing daily operational duties as needed.
• Establish productivity, quality, safety and inventory accuracy standards.
• Plan and organize daily warehouse workflow to meet customer expectations.
• Develop and implement procedures to improve efficiency and consistency.
• Partner with leadership, customer service, finance and transportation to resolve issues.
• Oversee inventory control, cycle counts and reconciliations.
• Coordinate equipment maintenance and safe operating conditions.
• Review warehouse docs, receiving/shipping records and vendor invoices for accuracy.
• Ensure OSHA compliance and warehouse safety policies.
• Maintain proficiency with WMS and operational reporting.

As we continue expanding our operations, we are seeking a hands‑on Facility Manager to help establish and lead our new distribution center in Fredericksburg, TX. As the facility is currently in its startup phase, the Facility Manager will initially be responsible for independently performing daily warehouse operations, including operating a company delivery van.

What You’ll Do

As the Facility Manager, you will be responsible for both managing and performing the daily operations of our Fredericksburg distribution center. Initially, this will be an independent, hands‑on role requiring you to handle warehouse activities and operate a company delivery van. As the facility grows, responsibilities will expand to include hiring, training, and supervising additional team members.

Responsibilities

• Lead and actively participate in daily warehouse operations, including receiving, shipping, fulfillment, inventory control, packing, and order processing.
• Operate a company delivery van to complete customer pickups and deliveries, ensuring products are properly loaded, secured, and transported safely and on time.
• Assist with establishing and developing operations at a new distribution facility, including implementing processes and organizing workflows.
• Maintain an active, hands‑on presence in the warehouse, performing daily operational duties as needed.
• Establish and maintain productivity, quality, safety, and inventory accuracy standards.
• Plan, prioritize, and organize daily warehouse workflow to meet customer expectations.
• Develop and implement operational procedures that improve efficiency and ensure consistency.
• Partner with leadership, customer service, finance, and transportation teams to resolve operational issues.
• Oversee inventory control processes, including cycle counts, reconciliations, and inventory accuracy.

As the Facility Grows

• Recruit, hire, train, and develop warehouse employees to support expanding operations.
• Manage employee scheduling, staffing levels, and performance to meet operational demands.
• Supervise, coach, and hold team members accountable for individual and team performance goals.
• Oversee employees performing transportation duties, ensuring safe driving practices and compliance with company procedures.
• Delegate daily warehouse responsibilities while maintaining a hands‑on leadership presence.
• Transition to operating a 26-foot company box truck as business needs expand.

Required Qualifications

• Proven leadership experience managing warehouse or distribution center operations.
• Demonstrated willingness and ability to perform hands‑on warehouse duties in addition to management responsibilities.
• Valid driver's license and a driving record reflecting no accidents or moving violations within the past five years.
• Ability and willingness to regularly operate a company delivery van and transition to a 26-foot box truck as operational needs expand.
• Strong knowledge of shipping, receiving, inventory control, and warehouse best practices.

Preferred Experience

• Two to five years of warehouse, distribution, logistics, or fulfillment management experience.
• Experience opening, launching, or establishing operations at a new warehouse or distribution facility.
• Experience operating a 26-foot box truck or similar commercial‑sized vehicle.
• Experience in the wine industry, including wine warehousing, distribution, fulfillment, or transportation.
• Experience managing inventory control.
• Experience implementing process improvements and driving operational efficiencies.
• Familiarity with WMS platforms such as Advatix, MAPPS, or similar warehouse software.
• Experience leading teams in a high‑volume fulfillment environment.

Education

High School Diploma or GED required.

Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations Management, or a related field preferred. Equivalent leadership experience will also be considered.

$65,000–$75,000 annually, depending on experience.
