Facility Manager

Salary Range: $65,000.00 To $70,000.00 Annually

Position Summary

Responsible for the safety, cleanliness, and functionality of all agency properties and vehicles. Blends hands-on technical troubleshooting with team leadership, budget management, and vendor coordination. Ensures full compliance with regulatory safety standards while maintaining a high quality of life for residents, staff, and visitors.

Job Description

Required Education, Experience and Qualifications

  • High school diploma preferred (or equivalent) or a professional building certification.
  • Minimum of 5 years of building maintenance experience, with 2+ years in a supervisory role. Experience in multi-family housing, hospitality, or institutional shelters is a plus.
  • Proficient in basic carpentry, plumbing, electrical diagnostics, and reading facility blueprints or safety manuals.
  • Familiarity with computerized maintenance management software.
  • Good understanding of building codes and fire safety
  • Maintain valid Ohio driver’s license and ability to meet agency requirements for driving insurability.
  • Must be able to meet agency requirements for criminal background check (BCI and FBI).

Role and Responsibilities

Physical Plant & Grounds Maintenance

  • Execute hands-on repairs and preventative maintenance across core building systems, including minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry, drywall, painting, and appliance repair.
  • Oversee HVAC operations, commercial kitchen equipment, laundry facilities, and fire suppression systems, coordinating specialized certified contractors when required.
  • Manage strict, high-traffic pest control and mitigation protocols suitable for communal living environments.
  • Perform routine and emergency maintenance tasks, minimizing disruptive noise and providing clear, sensitive communication before entering occupied spaces.
  • Ensure immediate repairs to any damaged safety elements, such as broken window locks, compromised doors, or lighting failures in communal or exterior spaces.
  • Maintain shelter exterior, including walkways, playground structures, and parking areas, ensuring they remain free of hazards and ice.

Security & Access Control Management

  • Maintain, test, and troubleshoot all facility security infrastructure, including perimeter fencing, gates, security cameras (CCTV), PA System, panic buttons, and electronic access control systems.
  • Manage key control protocols and digital access codes, performing immediate re-keying or code changes during security breaches or high-risk discharges.
  • Supervise, train, and schedule maintenance and custodial personnel.
  • Manage outside contractors for specialized projects (e.g., major roof repairs, elevator servicing, pest control).
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and spare parts inventory within allocated budgets.

Compliance, Administration & Safety

  • Ensure full compliance with OSHA standards, local building codes, fire codes, and public health regulations.
  • Manage the facility maintenance budget, track inventory of tools and supplies, and procure maintenance materials efficiently.
  • Enforce tool control policies, ensuring all hazardous materials, chemicals, and sharp tools are locked securely out of reach of children and unauthorized individuals.
  • Maintain digital logs of preventative maintenance schedules, inspections, and work orders using the FMX maintenance management software.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Maintenance technicians, custodial staff, and contracted vendors

  • Work environment : This position will be in a facility with victims of domestic violence or sexual assault. In addition to interaction with the survivors, the employee may have interactions with families of these individuals, the assailants and law enforcement.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

  • Flexible schedule spread over a 7-day week to ensure appropriate coverage. Some evenings and weekends. On-call responsibility is required.
