Join to apply for the Facility Management Manager Trainee role at CHI

This position, under the supervision of a facility director or manager, will learn and complete various tasks related to crafts/trades disciplines related to the maintenance of our facilities. The intern will learn to lead engineering and/or facility management activities, including operation and maintenance of hospital physical assets at medical centers or facilities. Responsibilities include managing work order systems, analyzing department performance using budgets and reports, evaluating employee work, maintaining records, planning work, and assisting with facility projects. Engaging with lessons learned or identifying opportunities for improvement within the facility will be required to provide written reports.

This position may include responsibilities such as:

  • Managing technology systems and data
  • Operations of non-hospital properties (clinics, medical office buildings, etc.)
  • Operational projects
  • Supporting the Mission, Philosophy, and Values

The Intern, Facility Management, adheres to high standards of ethical conduct and supports the mission and values of Common Spirit Health. It reports directly to the System Director, Facility Operations, and interfaces with various teams across divisions for facilities initiatives and projects. The role may be assigned to a local facility for all or part of the internship.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with engineering or facilities department tasks, including managing technology systems, maintaining performance standards, and overseeing projects.
  • Support project oversight from design to construction of facilities projects.
  • Evaluate expenses and support cost containment efforts.
  • Assist with vendor RFPs and provide recommendations based on stakeholder feedback.
  • Maintain maintenance records and ensure completion rates meet targets.
  • Support vendor relationships and communication.
  • Participate in construction activities as needed.
  • Help ensure regulatory compliance and accreditation readiness.
  • Learn and operate the Computer Maintenance Management System.
  • Enhance professional communication and coordinate workflows between departments, contractors, and administration.
  • Build interdepartmental relationships and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in training and development programs.
Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled as a junior or higher, or graduated within the past 6 months, from an accredited college/university, with a degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Interior Design, or related field. Must understand financial and operational management.
  • Must provide own housing during the internship.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with blueprint reading, building codes, OSHA, The Joint Commission, and policy development.

Pay Range

$26.51 - $38.44 per hour
