The City of Grandview is seeking a dependable, hands-on Facility Maintenance Worker to keep City buildings, grounds, and equipment safe, functional, and well maintained.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 18 years of age or older required.
• Valid state driver’s license required.
• Reliable transportation required.
• Must pass a background check and physical.
• Preferred: at least one year of facility maintenance experience or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on City buildings, grounds, and equipment.
• Monitor facility mechanical systems for proper operation.
• Perform preventive HVAC maintenance, including filters and belts and condenser cleaning.
• Inspect buildings, equipment, and grounds for maintenance needs and safety concerns.
• Mow grass, trim shrubs and trees, and maintain designated City grounds.
• Perform custodial and general facility upkeep.
• Set up tables, benches, and other equipment for meetings, special events, and holiday programs.
• Maintain, clean, and properly use tools and equipment.
• Track and order custodial and janitorial supplies.
• Remove snow from walkways and driveways and assist with snow-removal operations when required.
• Provide direction to seasonal employees and assist the Facilities Supervisor when needed.
• Follow established safety procedures and attend required safety training.

Job description

The Grandview City Hall/PD/Court parking lot will be closed beginning Wednesday, Sept. 9th. Visitors can park at 1416 Main Street lot or find on-street parking. Handicap spots are marked at the Main Street entrance.

With this being my first official full time job with benefits, it has really turned around my outlook on personal growth and my life has changed so much. I am a real adult with more personal and professional responsibilities than ever before. It’s an adjustment with pros and cons, but a massive improvement overall!

What satisfies me the most in my position here at the city is being able to help both English and Spanish speaking customers. Working for the city has helped me grow by giving me the confidence to get out of my comfort zone and trying new things after being a stay-at-home mom for 15 years.

A team first mentality, I'd say that fits. They really do try and include every department in on, [sic] on-going activities with the city. Not to mention open to listening to concerns that one may have.

This position performs a combination of facility maintenance, basic repairs, grounds maintenance, custodial work, HVAC preventive maintenance, event setup, and general manual labor throughout City facilities.

No two days are exactly the same—you may be checking building systems one day, working outside on City grounds the next, and helping prepare a facility for a City meeting or event later in the week.

What You'll Do

As a Facility Maintenance Worker, you'll help with:

• Performing routine maintenance and repairs on City buildings, grounds, and equipment.
• Monitoring facility mechanical systems and helping ensure they are operating properly.
• Performing preventive HVAC maintenance, including filter and belt replacement and condenser cleaning.
• Inspecting buildings, equipment, and grounds for maintenance needs and potential safety concerns.
• Mowing grass, trimming shrubs and trees, and maintaining designated City grounds.
• Performing custodial and general facility upkeep.
• Setting up tables, benches, and other equipment for meetings, special events, and holiday programs.
• Maintaining, cleaning, and properly using tools and equipment.
• Tracking and ordering custodial and janitorial supplies.
• Removing snow from walkways and driveways and assisting with City emergency snow-removal operations when required.
• Providing occasional direction to seasonal employees and filling in for the Facilities Supervisor when needed.
• Following established safety procedures and attending required safety training.

What We're Looking For

Preferred: At least one year of facility maintenance experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

This Is a Hands-On Position

This isn't a desk job. Facility Maintenance Workers regularly use equipment and tools such as mowers, pressure washers, landscaping equipment, common hand tools, electrical circuit testers, and other maintenance equipment.

The position requires significant physical activity, including prolonged standing and walking, bending, crouching, stooping, crawling, climbing ladders, and regularly lifting or moving objects weighing up to approximately 50 pounds. Heavier materials may be handled using appropriate equipment or assistance.

You'll work both indoors and outdoors throughout the year, including during hot, cold, wet, or otherwise challenging weather conditions. The work may also involve exposure to noise, machinery, fumes, electrical currents, and other conditions associated with facility and grounds maintenance.
