Job summary

University Hospital in Newark, NJ is seeking a skilled maintenance professional to operate, repair, and install a range of systems including electrical, plumbing, HVAC/R, carpentry, and painting. You will respond to calls, perform routine inspections, and manage maintenance records while ensuring safety and code compliance.

Requires a technical school diploma and at least two years of related experience, a NJ driver’s license, and preferred NJ Black Seal Engineer’s license.

Qualifications

• Technical school diploma or equivalent with two years of experience in electrical, plumbing, HVAC/R, carpentry, painting or general maintenance.
• Ability to perform minor repairs to all skilled trades including mechanical equipment/systems, HVAC/R, electrical, plumbing, and fire alarm systems.
• Valid New Jersey Driver’s License. New Jersey Black Seal Engineer’s License preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain, repair and install machinery, plumbing fixtures, simple HVAC/R controls, and related tasks such as painting, carpentry and electrical.
• Respond to trouble calls within facilities using tools, analyze equipment and testing requirements.
• Perform routine building maintenance and inspections of mechanical equipment and related facility systems.
• Prepare and submit requisitions for materials, work orders, records and reports to the Supervisor, Maintenance and Construction.
