Job summary

Css is looking for a Facilities Maintenance Technician to manage repairs and maintenance across multiple commercial kitchen facilities in the Chicago area. The ideal candidate should have at least 2 years of experience and a solid understanding of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems. This position offers a dynamic work environment with a mix of hands-on repairs and preventative maintenance.

Compensation ranges from $20.75 to $24.75 per hour, plus overtime and full benefits including 401(k) and insurance packages.

What You’ll Do

Facilities Maintenance & Repairs

• Perform general repairs across multiple sites, including:
  • Drywall, patching, and painting
  • Tiling and basic masonry
  • Shelving and equipment installation
  • Floor repairs and upkeep
  • Exterior maintenance (roofs, gutters, landscaping)

Preventative Maintenance

• Conduct routine maintenance on building systems:
  • HVAC
  • Plumbing
  • Electrical
• Identify issues early and prevent costly breakdowns

Site Operations Support

• Travel between multiple sites(number of sites vary by region) throughout the week across the Chicago area
• Troubleshoot and resolve day-to-day facility issues
• Partner with internal teams to keep kitchens fully operational

What Your Week Looks Like

• 60% hands-on repairs and maintenance
• 25% preventative maintenance
• 15% inspections, troubleshooting, and support

What We’re Looking For

Required

• 2+ years of handyman, maintenance, or facilities experience
• Basic knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, field-based role
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Preferred

• 3+ years of commercial facilities maintenance experience
• Experience in restaurants, hospitality, or multi-site environments
• HVAC/R experience or trade school background

Work Environment & Schedule

• Field-based role across the Greater Chicago Area
• Local travel between sites (home daily)
• Monday–Friday schedule
• On-call rotation and overtime opportunities
