Job summary

U-Haul is seeking a Facility Maintenance Technician in Los Angeles, CA. The role uses technical skills to inspect, maintain and build new buildings alongside a team of technicians, completing work requests promptly and safely.

Primary duties include preventive maintenance, electrical, A/C, plumbing tasks, and operating hand/power tools. A valid driver’s license and DOT certification are required or sponsorable by U-Haul.

Qualifications

• Experience in electrical, A/C/HVAC, plumbing or landscaping.
• Valid driver’s license; able to drive and operate company vehicles.
• DOT certification; sponsor possible by U-Haul.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, maintain and build new buildings.
• Perform general maintenance, installation, repair and service.
• Conduct preventive maintenance and roof inspections at various sites.
• Use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
• Collaborate with other technicians to complete complex projects.
• Process work requests promptly and professionally.
• Manage company truck and gas card; participate in U-Haul education.

Facility Maintenance Technician Primary Responsibilities

• Inspect, maintain and build new buildings.
• Perform general maintenance, installation, repair and service.
• Perform preventive maintenance inspections and semiannual roof inspections at various sites.
• Effectively work with a variety of hand/power tools.
• Pool knowledge with other Facility Maintenance Technicians to accomplish complex projects.
• Complete work requests in a timely and professional manner.
• Keep track of company truck and gas card.
• Participate in ongoing continuous U-Haul education through U-Haul University.

Facility Maintenance Technician Minimum Qualifications

• Experience in any of the following areas: electrical, A/C, HVAC, plumbing or landscaping
• Valid driver’s license
• D.O.T certification (can be sponsored by U-Haul)

Work Environment

The work involves moderate risks or discomforts which require special safety precautions, e.g. working around moving parts, machines, fumes or irritant chemicals. May be required to use protective clothing or gear such as masks, goggles, gloves or shields.

Physical Demands

The work requires some physical exertion such as long periods both indoors and outdoors while remaining stationary, traversing spaces, repositioning to reach and use tools and moving a minimum of 50 lbs assisted or unassisted.
