Job summary

Aerotek is seeking a Facilities Mechanic to maintain, repair, and support the upkeep of a food manufacturing facility in Perth Amboy, NJ. The role combines hands-on mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC work with documentation and coordination tasks to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations.

Responsibilities include preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, inspections, and coordination with contractors.

Qualifications

• Experience in building and facilities maintenance within industrial/manufacturing settings.
• Hands-on plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and mechanical maintenance.
• Strong documentation practices and log keeping.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance on facility equipment to reduce downtime and extend asset life.
• Carry out corrective maintenance and repairs on building systems and production-related equipment as issues arise.
• Repair and maintain HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems to ensure consistent and safe operation.
• Troubleshoot equipment and building-related issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions.
• Conduct regular facility inspections to identify maintenance needs, safety concerns, and areas for improvement.
• Respond promptly to emergency maintenance requests to restore operations and minimize disruptions.
• Maintain accurate maintenance logs, work orders, and documentation for all completed tasks and inspections.
• Ensure all work complies with safety regulations, internal policies, and relevant standards.
• Coordinate and communicate with contractors and vendors to schedule service, obtain quotes, and oversee work performed.
• Collaborate with operations and other departments to prioritize maintenance activities and support production goals.
