Job summary

Magnum Ice Cream Company in Sikeston, MO is seeking an Engineering Mechanic to independently cover central engineering functions and provide technical support across the facility.

You will perform maintenance on boiler and cooling systems, electrical trouble shooting, conveyors, and other plant equipment while following safety procedures and PM schedules. This is a full-time night-shift role with competitive pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma; test required for this position.
• Ability to interpret P&ID and electrical schematics.
• Capable of working hot/cold conditions, on ladders, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Familiar with PPE and safety protocols.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain boiler and cooling tower systems.
• Troubleshoot electrical issues and maintain equipment.
• Maintain conveyors, freezers, and packaging equipment.
• Perform PM tasks and general housekeeping.

Role Overview

The Engineering Mechanic works independently to ensure timely and effective coverage of central engineering functions. The position also provides technical support throughout the facility.

Responsibilities

• Operational/Maintenance of boiler systems.
• Operational/Maintenance of Cooling Tower systems.
• Light duty electrical trouble shooting.
• Maintenance of freezer and floor temperatures.
• Maintenance of freezer equipment, film wrappers and conveyors.
• Performance of painting, cement work, office area maintenance, lighting, and minor carpentry work.
• Performance of minor maintenance on walls and floor of facility.
• Maintenance for Foot bath systems.
• Pluming, floor drain blockages, sewage monitoring and/or treatments.
• Cleaning of grounds area.
• Perform bench work in the shop; i.e., pick up arms, tape heads, etc.
• Perform miscellaneous housekeeping and other duties as assigned.
• Respond to manufacturing maintenance calls as required.
• Maintain Hazwoper equipment and storage room.
• Maintain SCBA clean up and storage, testing and all other equipment.
• Maintenance of plant equipment as assigned.
• Perform tasks related to shipping/receiving equipment or parts.
• Work associated with:
• HVAC equipment
• Exhaust fans
• Lighting
• Lawn sprinkler system
• Floor scrubber equipment
• Battery charging equipment
• Performance of all assigned Preventative Maintenance (PM).
• Follow all required safety procedures and work in a safe manner.

Requirements

• High School Diploma Pass required test for this position
• Operate a computer Relating to office software, Maintenance Part Inventory software, which controls and monitors mechanical equipment and utility systems.
• Ability to work in both hot and cold conditions, on ladders and platforms, and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.
• Familiarity and/or ability to work with lubricants, solvents, brine solutions, and other chemicals with appropriate PPE.
• Ability to interpret basic Process & Instrumentation drawings (P&ID), electrical schematics and equipment manuals as necessary to perform assigned duties.

• Ability to navigate and use web-based programs such as Buildapp, Weever, Megamation, DFOS, SPC, etc.
• Ability to apply rigorous Cost Deployment and the Zero loss concept to eliminate losses utilizing UMS

Work Environment

Work is performed throughout the facility. Potential hazards include proximity of moving machinery, chemical exposure, noise, heights or heavy lifting. The position may require an individual to stand, stoop, move equipment, bend, reach, or lift for prolonged periods of time.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) includes safety glasses, hearing protection, sanitary/anti-slip safety toe footwear, fall restraints, SCBA, Electrical Flash clothing, HAZWOPER and other PPE as required.
