Job summary

ADP, Inc. in Bedford, TX is seeking a Custodian / Environmental Services Technician to maintain a clean, safe, and professional clinical environment in a medical clinic attached to an ambulatory surgery center.

This full-time role focuses on routine cleaning, sanitation, waste handling, and maintaining HIPAA awareness in patient areas. Reporting to operations leadership, you will follow OSHA standards, work in a healthcare setting, and coordinate with outsourced maintenance for non-cleaning

Responsibilities

• Clean and disinfect exam rooms, procedure rooms, restrooms, waiting areas, staff areas, offices, and common spaces according to facility protocols.
• Perform terminal cleaning of rooms following clinical or procedural use.
• Dust, mop, vacuum, and wipe surfaces; clean glass, fixtures, and high-touch areas.
• Empty trash and recycling; replace liners; keep soiled-utility and supply areas orderly.
• Restock soap, paper products, and designated cleaning supplies.
• Maintain a professional appearance of interior entryways and immediately adjacent interior spaces.
• Follow infection-control, sanitation, and safety protocols without exception.
• Safely handle and dispose of regulated medical waste, including blood and biohazard materials.
• Use required PPE consistently when handling biological materials.

Position Summary

The Custodian / Environmental Services Technician maintains a clean, safe, and professional clinical environment in a medical clinic attached to an ambulatory surgery center. This is a custodial and environmental services role focused on routine and terminal cleaning, sanitation, and regulated medical waste handling. Building maintenance, HVAC work, plumbing, and grounds services are outsourced and are not part of this position.

The incumbent must be comfortable working in a healthcare setting with exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and biological materials, and must follow infection-control and OSHA standards at all times.

Key Responsibilities

• Clean and disinfect exam rooms, procedure rooms, restrooms, waiting areas, staff areas, offices, and common spaces according to facility protocols

Biological & Regulated Waste Handling

• Safely handle and dispose of regulated medical waste, including:
• Blood and blood-contaminated materials
• Human tissue and biological specimens
• Sharps containers and biohazard waste
• Transport waste to designated holding areas in compliance with OSHA and facility policies
• Use required PPE consistently when handling biological materials

Daily Support & Issue Reporting

• Complete assigned cleaning schedules and checklists for clinic and ASC spaces
• Report facility issues, safety hazards, supply shortages, and equipment problems to leadership promptly
• Do not perform building repairs, plumbing, HVAC, filter changes, or grounds work; those services are outsourced
• Provide vendor access when requested by leadership and keep work areas safe while vendors are on site
• Protect patient privacy and maintain HIPAA awareness while working in clinical areas

Safety & Compliance

• Adhere to OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens standards and facility safety policies
• Participate in required safety, infection-control, and environmental services training
• Promptly report spills, exposure incidents, or safety hazards
• Use chemicals and equipment only as trained and labeled

Required Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience as a custodian, housekeeper, or environmental services technician
• Healthcare EVS experience in a clinic, surgical center, or hospital
• Familiarity with biohazard waste handling and terminal cleaning
• OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens training, or willingness to complete upon hire
• High school diploma or equivalent

Physical & Environmental Requirements

• Regular exposure to bloodborne pathogens and biological materials
• Use of PPE including gloves, gowns, masks, and eye protection as required
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and up to 75 lbs occasionally
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and to work around cleaning chemicals

This position works inside a medical clinic and attached ambulatory surgery center. The work is custodial in nature and includes clinical spaces that require infection-control standards. Skilled maintenance and grounds services are performed by outside vendors.
