The Facilities & Equipment Engineer plays a key role in workstation layout design and supports the equipment procurement process to ensure efficient production line setup.

Job Description

:

The Facilities & Equipment Engineer plays a key role in workstation layout design and supports the equipment procurement process to ensure efficient production line setup.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Review & validate all station layouts, ensuring optimal facilities and equipment placement.
  • Develop proposals for line display, collaborate with plant stakeholders, and secure approvals for equipment, layouts, materials, and construction plans.
  • Determine equipment requirements, working closely with Material Flow Engineers to optimize procurement.
  • Draft specifications for standard equipment, including bid requirements and supplier evaluations.
  • Prepare bid/design specifications for non-standard equipment, including indexers and AGC/AGV systems.
  • Conduct DFMEA analysis for all major automation systems (indexers/AGC) to mitigate risks.
  • Monitor & update budget forecasts, tracking actual expenses and providing monthly reports to the Program Manager.
  • Coordinate installations & extractions, managing daily schedules, contractor collaboration, and manpower requirements.
  • Visit equipment fabricators in the US Midwest region as needed, overseeing production runoffs.
  • Obtain plant safety & ergonomic approvals before initiating equipment build and installation.


Required Skills & Experience:


  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
  • 3+ years of professional experience in engineering roles.
  • 2+ years in a Facilities & Equipment-related role at an Automotive OEM.
  • Expertise in equipment specification & procurement for inventory management, storage, material handling, and automated manufacturing.
  • Ability to develop workstation layouts in 2D and 3D.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD for engineering design and layout development.
