Job summary

3M seeks a Facility Engineer to lead and deliver complex engineering projects in Knoxville, with on-site work and cross-functional collaboration across manufacturing and engineering teams.

You will manage budgets, schedules, and risk, while upholding safety and environmental standards, documenting results, and mentoring engineers and new hires to strengthen capabilities across the organization.

  • Supports IP development, maintains documentation, and ensures safety and engineering standards.
  • Builds relationships, mentors engineers and new hires, and contributes leadership across engineering and manufacturing.

  • Drives successful delivery of complex engineering projects by aligning multi-disciplinary teams around clear scope, timelines, budgets, and business priorities.
  • Improves execution quality by identifying business and technical risks early, resolving cross-functional issues quickly, and keeping stakeholders informed on project status and results.
  • Strengthens financial performance by managing project estimates, capital requests, purchasing, and cost tracking to help projects stay within approved budget guidelines.
  • Protects 3M’s long-term interests by supporting intellectual property development, maintaining strong documentation practices, and ensuring projects follow safety, environmental, and engineering standards.
  • Expands team capability and organizational effectiveness by building strong business relationships, mentoring engineers and new hires, and contributing leadership across engineering and manufacturing initiatives.
Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum of three (3) years of facilities experience

Applicable to US Applicants Only: The expected compensation range for this position is $124,127 - $151,710, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s relevant knowledge, training, skills, work location, and/or experience. In addition, this position may be eligible for a range of benefits (e.g., Medical, Dental & Vision, Health Savings Accounts, Health Care & Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts, Disability Benefits, Life Insurance, Voluntary Benefits, Paid Absences and Retirement Benefits, etc.).
