Job summary

3M is seeking an Environmental Engineer for the Cordova, IL facility, an on-site role that emphasizes developing and implementing environmental programs and ensuring regulatory compliance across federal, state, and local permits.

You will analyze environmental data, coordinate reporting, and communicate findings to leadership while collaborating with cross-functional teams to address regulatory challenges and drive continuous improvement in manufacturing operations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, or Environmental Engineering discipline (completed and verified prior to start).
  • Internships, Co‑ops, and/or 1‑2 years of related Environmental or Engineering experience in a private, public, government or military environment
  • Skills include proven track record working with Teams.
  • Leadership experience in previous roles, clubs, extra‑curricular activities, or other organizations.

Responsibilities

  • Interpreting, implementing, coordinating, and maintaining the regulatory compliance rhythm to assure completion of reporting and recording for applicable Federal, State and Local Environmental Permits, regulations, and programs.
  • Analyzing environmental data, self‑assessments, reports, trends and communicating findings and recommendations for correction of gaps to operational leadership.
  • Developing a broad knowledge and understanding of external environmental activities and technologies and how they relate to the businesses of the division/staff organization.
  • Evaluating complex regulatory challenges across environmental medias related to dynamic manufacturing operations.
  • Establishing and cultivating a network of intra‑divisional support to facilitate completion of environmental assignments.
  • Communicating environmental projects and/or program status and results to operational Leadership.

Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, or Environmental Engineering discipline (completed and verified prior to start).

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Internships, Co‑ops, and/or 1‑2 years of related Environmental or Engineering experience in a private, public, government or military environment

Work location
  • Work location: This role follows an on‑site working model at the 3M facility in Cordova, IL.
  • Travel: May include up to 10% domestic/international
  • Relocation: May be authorized

Applicable to US Applicants Only: The expected compensation range for this position is $81,983 - $100,202, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position.
