Job summary

Parker Hannifin’s Composite Sealing Systems Division in San Diego (Otay Mesa) seeks an experienced Facility EHS Senior Specialist to lead and coordinate EHS programs, drive regulatory compliance, waste management, and energy use reduction while partnering with site leadership.

The role reports to the Division EHS Manager and focuses on training, audits, and proactive safety improvements across the facility, with a Monday–Friday 4:00 am–12:30 pm schedule.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of applicable EHS experience.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment required.
  • Experience in ergonomics and behavior-based safety preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of EHS regulations required.
  • Experience developing, implementing, and maintaining EHS programs preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement programs and procedures to meet facility objectives and targets in EHS, with key focus areas including accident prevention, EHS regulatory compliance, energy management and use reduction, waste minimization, and management systems, as required.
  • Coordinate all EHS training for the facility.
  • Support and manage corrective actions resulting from Corporate EHS audits.
  • Serve as the onsite contact for the Corporate EHS Department and, under Corporate direction, manage EPA-related actions including notices of violation, cleanups, and complaints.
  • Serve as the onsite contact for the Corporate EHS Department and, under Corporate direction, manage OSHA-related actions including inspections, letters of noncompliance, and informal conferences.
  • Direct all applicable EHS reporting requirements in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Maintain necessary EHS records.
  • Ensure compliance with Corporate EHS policies and directives.
  • Chair ISO 14000 and ISO 18000 committees, if applicable.
  • Support customer EHS requirements, including IMDS, as applicable.
  • Develop, measure, and track internal EHS metrics, plans, and goals.
  • Report directly to division management and at staff meetings on EHS matters.
  • Ensure training of new facility EHS Coordinators.
  • Attend biannual EHS conferences or annual country council meetings, as required.
  • Direct the division’s waste management and recycling program.
  • Support and integrate EHS initiatives into Lean, Human Resources, and Supply Chain efforts.
  • Follow established safety and environmental policies, procedures, and methods applicable to the work area.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

This position is for Parker Hannifin’s Composite Sealing Systems Division, located in San Diego (Otay Mesa), California. The standard work hours are from Monday through Friday from 4:00 am to 12:30 pm.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Facility EHS Sr Specialist leads, manages, and coordinates all aspects of facility goals and objectives related to Environment, Health and Safety, or EHS. This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining EHS programs and procedures that support regulatory compliance, accident prevention, waste minimization, energy management, and overall facility performance.

The position will report to the Division EHS Manager and will work regularly with site leadership and staff. In matters of EHS, this role is directly responsible for the successful implementation of EHS programs, policies, procedures, and related initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field required; degree in Environment, Health and Safety or a related field preferred.
  • Extensive experience with certificate programs, seminars, continuing education units, or an associate degree may be considered in lieu of a bachelor’s degree, depending on experience and business needs.
Experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of applicable EHS experience.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment required.
  • Experience in ergonomics and behavior-based safety preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of EHS regulations required.
  • Experience developing, implementing, and maintaining EHS programs preferred.

  • Pay Range: $102305 to $162590 annually
