Job summary

YMCA of Southern Maine in Biddeford, ME is seeking a part-time cleaner to work under the Facility Director to ensure the YMCA facility remains clean and well-maintained. Shifts include early mornings and evenings with some variability.

The position requires 1–3 years of relevant experience, reliable punctuality, and basic computer skills; a criminal background check is required. Benefits include free personal membership and earned paid leave.

Qualifications

• Must be able to follow schedules and deadlines to support YMCA programs
• Ability to follow written instructions in the absence of direct supervision
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on customer service
• Extremely reliable, dependable, and punctual; able to work independently and in a team
• Sound decision-making skills; ability to take initiative and be self-motivated
• Capable of basic math calculations, including fractions and decimals
• Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
• Basic computer skills including email and internet
• Criminal background check is required, per policy

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness and upkeep of the YMCA facility under supervision of the Facility Director
• Model equity and inclusion and promote a welcoming environment
• Collaborate with staff and communicate effectively to support operations
• Respond promptly to facility concerns and ensure member safety and satisfaction
• Complete maintenance logs and paperwork accurately and timely
