Job summary

City of San Marcos is seeking a Construction Technician to perform diverse labor and maintenance across City facilities, parks, and properties. The role supports carpentry, painting, irrigation, concrete work, and other minor construction, while troubleshooting and applying best-practice repairs.

Responsibilities include coordinating with contractors, assisting staff during projects, and responding to emergencies 24/7. A valid Texas driver’s license and 3 years of related experience are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Three (3) years of related construction/maintenance experience.
• General knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and irrigation technical operations.
• Valid Texas driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Provides construction labor and support for new buildings, remodels, renovations, and maintenance of existing City facilities and structures.
• Assists contractors, coordinates with staff during construction activities, and responds to city/project emergencies via 24/7 on-call availability.
• Participates in inspections and promotes safe, compliant work practices.
• Performs other related duties as assigned or required.
