City of San Marcos is seeking a Construction Technician to perform diverse labor and maintenance across City facilities, parks, and properties. The role supports carpentry, painting, irrigation, concrete work, and other minor construction, while troubleshooting and applying best-practice repairs.
Responsibilities include coordinating with contractors, assisting staff during projects, and responding to emergencies 24/7. A valid Texas driver’s license and 3 years of related experience are required.

The Construction Technician performs construction, repair, and renovation work to support the safety, functionality, and appearance of City facilities, parks, and other properties. It delivers a wide range of skilled trade services—including carpentry, painting, drywall, glass repair, irrigation, lighting, concrete work, equipment operation, and other minor construction tasks—while providing technical troubleshooting and best-practice repair solutions. This role contributes to efficient facility operations by addressing maintenance needs and supporting construction projects as directed.

This position requires the ability to lift up to 80 pounds with assistance. Subject to vision constantly; sitting, handling and fine dexterity frequently; standing, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling, reaching, hearing, talking and foot controls occasionally; kneeling, crouching, crawling, bending, twisting, climbing and balancing rarely.
Working conditions involve exposure to variable and/or extreme weather conditions, electrical currents, machinery with moving parts, hazardous chemicals/materials, infectious diseases, cuts, burns, or other physical harm. Utilizes personal protective equipment as required.
