Job summary

The Marion County Sheriff's Office is seeking a Facility Security Specialist to support the Homeland Security Division. You will assist Deputies and the public with screening procedures and monitoring secured facilities.

Responsibilities include operating metal detectors and hand wands, verifying identities, managing parking passes, traffic flow, and radio communications. You will assist with evacuations and perform duties as directed by the Sheriff.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age.
• Must have High School Diploma or GED.
• Must pass a complete background check.
• Must successfully complete required training.
• Must be able to retain knowledge of policy and procedures.
• Must possess strong verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with screening of the public and employees entering the facility.
• Operate metal detectors and hand wands as required.
• Monitor activity in entryways and hallways.
• Verify identities of personnel entering the facility.
• Identify employee parking passes.
• Assist with traffic control within the facility garage and parking areas.
• Communicate with deputies, co-workers, and supervising staff via radio communication
• Assist with evacuation of facilities during emergencies.
• Assist with various additional tasks as directed by the Sheriff
