City of Fort Lauderdale seeks a Parks Maintenance Worker to service daily trash routes and perform park and facility upkeep. The role includes landscaping, tree trimming, and basic building repairs alongside a crew; you may assume lead duties as required.
The position requires a CDL Class B with airbrakes at application and hire, and involves strenuous outdoor work. Work hours are 5:00am–1:30pm, Sunday to Thursday.
This position requires the hired candidate to have a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) – Class B with Air Brake endorsement at the time of application and upon hire. Failure to maintain an active CDL endorsement will result in separation from City employment.
Sunday to Thursday: 5:00am - 1:30pm
This position is responsible for the execution of a daily route servicing the City’s public places trash cans. Employee will, with another team member, operate a trash collection vehicle and empty trash and recycle containers located throughout the City. Work requires strenuous physical outdoor work, often under unfavorable conditions. Performs progressively responsible facility maintenance duties, which includes minor repairs of building systems, cleaning restrooms, trash pick-up, etc. or performs progressively responsible grounds maintenance duties. Displays more specialized knowledge in the area of tree trimming, irrigation repair, carpentry, athletic field maintenance, etc. An employee in this class usually functions as a crew leader.
