Job summary

Omaha Performing Arts Society is seeking a Facilities Technician to maintain and operate the venue’s building systems, including HVAC and electricals, while coordinating with contractors and staff. The role emphasizes safety, budgeting, and maintaining facility records.

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma or GED, basic EMS and life-safety knowledge, and comfort with hand/power tools. Evening and weekend availability is required.

Qualifications

  • Familiar with mechanical and electrical systems such as HVAC, Fire & Life/Safety, EMS, CTV and access systems.
  • Ability to repair mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Requires ability to use hand tools and power tools common to the skills listed.
  • Self-starter with the knowledge of complete tasks effectively and economically.
  • Must be punctual and dependable.
  • Ability to foster a cooperative working environment.
  • Requires evening and weekend availability
  • On call 24/7 for emergencies (Full-time employees only.)
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Products.
  • Venue and/or hospitality experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains a preventative maintenance program within an annual budget for facilities and equipment.
  • Operates within the annual budget regarding expenses for supplies and utilities.
  • Plans repair, facility and remodeling projects within budget.
  • Adjusts controls and valves to operate building systems.
  • Maintains up-to-date records for inspections and logs for building systems, HVAC, and maintenance.
  • Assists and supervises contractors and vendors.
  • Works with staff to ensure supplies and inventory for day-to-day operations.
