Job summary

University Housing at the University of Wisconsin–Madison is seeking a Facilities Technician III to maintain and repair HVAC, electrical, plumbing and refrigeration systems serving residents and guests.

Base hours are daytime with a flexible start time; a rotating weekend or on-call schedule may apply with standby compensation. The department emphasizes safety, service, and strong communication with residents and staff.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of commercial maintenance experience.
• Experience or training with installing, diagnosing, and repairing HVAC systems.
• Experience or training with testing and monitoring systems for maximum operating efficiency.
• Driver’s License – Valid and Meets UW Risk Management Standards.

Responsibilities

• Assist trades, crafts, vendors, and technical staff with construction, design, and maintenance as needed.
• Service and maintain university vehicles and snow removal equipment.
• Assist with oversight of student workloads, including training and installation, removal, and maintenance of window air conditioning units.
• Utilize specialized equipment to repair and maintain complex machinery and facility property.
• Receive, inspect, inventories, and distribute deliveries independently.
