Job summary

Behavioral Health Network (BHN) is seeking a Facilities Technician III to join our Western Massachusetts facilities team. You will provide advanced maintenance, troubleshooting, and operational support to keep buildings and equipment safe, reliable, and up to code.

You will lead carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC projects, manage work orders in a CMMS, coordinate with leadership and contractors, and ensure safety standards and documentation are met daily.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Specialized and/or licensed-level knowledge of facility systems, preventive maintenance, equipment operation, and high-level facility projects required.
  • Demonstrated advanced hands-on skill in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, mechanical and electrical equipment, controls, and complex troubleshooting.
  • OSHA 10 certification required.
  • Advanced knowledge of facility safety standards, applicable regulations and codes, fire and evacuation procedures, equipment handling, and equipment-failure response.
  • Ability to independently analyze complex or diverse information, evaluate facility conditions, develop solutions, exercise sound judgment, and recommend timely actions.
  • Proficiency with computerized maintenance-management, building-management, work-order, communication, and standard computer systems, with the ability to maintain clear and accurate documentation.
  • Strong project-coordination, organization, communication, collaboration, customer-service, adaptability, dependability, and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid driver's license and a reliable, properly registered and inspected vehicle available during all working hours required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced, hands-on analysis, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, installation, and operational support across BHN facilities to keep buildings, systems, and equipment safe, reliable, and code-compliant.
  • Lead and complete high-level carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and general building projects, repairs, and improvements across interior and exterior spaces.
  • Maintain and monitor critical and non-critical mechanical and electrical equipment, controls, and installed systems through preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance.
  • Receive, complete, and close work orders through the computerized maintenance management system, accurately documenting labor, materials, findings, and corrective actions.
  • Conduct facility and equipment inspections, evaluate conditions that may affect operations or programs, prepare summary reports, and recommend appropriate corrective actions and priorities.
  • Coordinate with Facilities leadership to identify and order materials and support managers and directors with facility-project planning, scheduling, coordination, and execution.
  • Review and understand equipment operation, building-management systems, fire and life-safety systems, and other facility infrastructure; troubleshoot complex concerns and elevate issues appropriately.
  • Maintain productive working relationships with contractors and vendors, coordinate site access and work activities, and help ensure adherence to BHN safety and site requirements.
  • Apply advanced knowledge of facility safety standards and comply with manufacturer guidance, security procedures, and applicable city, county, and state ordinances and codes.
  • Support the secure archiving of sensitive records, respond to after-hours building needs, participate in required training and professional development, and perform other duties assigned by Facilities leadership.
