University of Wisconsin–Madison is seeking a motivated Facility Technician II for the Bakke Recreation & Wellbeing Center. This role involves performing diverse maintenance tasks, from light carpentry to basic equipment repairs, with on‑the‑job training and a dynamic work environment.

The position emphasizes mechanical aptitude, independent troubleshooting, and collaboration with trades and technical staff.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of relative experience.
• Independently perform fitness equipment repair or mechanical/electrical diagnostics and repair.
• Independently perform skilled repair and maintenance tasks such as light carpentry, painting, fixture and furniture installation, and general facilities upkeep.
• Independently troubleshoots, escalates, and documents issues according to established policies and procedures.
• Independently receives, inspects, inventories, and distributes deliveries to appropriate entities.

Responsibilities

• Receives, inspects, inventories, and distributes deliveries to appropriate entities under general supervision.
• Troubleshoots, escalates, and documents issues according to established policies and procedures.
• Performs routine facility inspections and monitors cleanliness.
• Utilizes equipment to repair and maintain standard machinery, equipment, and facility property to prevent further damage and ensure optimal operation.
• Assists trades, crafts, vendors, and technical staff with construction, design, and operational maintenance as needed.
