Job summary

Crown Point Christian is seeking a full-time Facilities Technician to support the care and maintenance of the school building and grounds. You will work closely with the Facilities Manager to perform daily maintenance, repairs, and setup for events, while developing knowledge of CPCS building systems.

The role emphasizes hands-on maintenance, safety, and teamwork within the facilities team, including light landscaping and grounds duties. A strong work ethic and ability to multitask are essential.

Responsibilities

• Walk the building and grounds each morning by 8:00 a.m. to identify facility or safety concerns and verify major systems operate properly.
• Perform routine and minor repairs to building, equipment, furniture, and grounds.
• Assist with monitoring and maintaining mechanical systems, including HVAC, electrical, and plumbing; maintain preventative maintenance records.
• Assemble, tag, move, repair, and maintain furniture, equipment, and supplies as needed.
• Take primary responsibility for setup/takedown of chairs, tables, and equipment for school events.
• Assist with landscaping and grounds maintenance, weed control, watering, and seasonal tasks.
• Remove snow and ice from entrances and sidewalks by 7:15 a.m. and spread salt as needed.
• Maintain organized maintenance rooms, storage areas, tools, and materials.
• Assist IT and contractors with wiring, A/V projects, and facility-related needs.

Responsibilities

• Walk the building and grounds each morning by 8:00 a.m. to identify facility or safety concerns, verify the proper operation of major building systems, and ensure entrances and sidewalks are safe and accessible.
• Perform routine and minor repairs to the building, equipment, furniture, and grounds, including basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and other general maintenance. Recognize when a repair requires additional expertise or authorization before proceeding.
• Develop working knowledge of and assist with monitoring and maintaining mechanical systems, including HVAC, electrical, and plumbing. Maintain appropriate preventative maintenance records and report concerns or needed service to the Facilities Manager.
• Assemble, tag, move, repair, and maintain furniture, equipment, and supplies as needed.
• Take primary responsibility for the physical setup and takedown of chairs, tables, risers, equipment, and other items for school events and activities, coordinating additional assistance when needed.
• Assist with landscaping and grounds maintenance needs, including weed control, watering, mulch, cleanup, and other seasonal work not handled by outside vendors.
• Remove snow and ice from front entrances and sidewalks by 7:15 a.m. when staff begin to arrive, and spread salt on sidewalks, entrances, and around the playground as needed.
• Maintain neat and organized maintenance rooms, storage areas, tools, equipment, and construction materials.
• Monitor inventory of maintenance and building supplies and notify the Facilities Manager when supplies or materials need to be ordered.
• Assist IT staff and contractors with wiring, equipment installation, A/V projects, and other facility-related needs.
• Coordinate access and provide on-site support for outside contractors and vendors as directed by the Facilities Manager.
• Assist with facility projects, renovations, furniture installation, and other physical improvements to the campus.
• Develop working knowledge of CPCS building systems, vendor contacts, operating manuals, warranties, preventative maintenance schedules, and other facility documentation.
• Provide day-to-day facility coverage, particularly in the absence of the Facilities Manager, and assist with essential custodial needs in the absence of the Lead Custodian.
• Participate in emergency, weather-related, and after-hours facility response as needed.
• Assume increasing responsibility for facilities operations as knowledge, experience, and demonstrated capabilities develop.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Facilities Manager or Director of Operations.

• Works collaboratively with the Lead Custodian as a peer within the Facilities Team.
• Schedule may occasionally include early-morning, evening, weekend, weather-related, or emergency responsibilities.
