Job summary

New Horizon Academy is seeking a Facility Technician responsible for day-to-day facility-related issues across assigned New Horizon Academy and Kinderberry Hill Child Care centers. You will liaise with schools, vendors, procurement, and admin to maintain building systems, safety, and aesthetics.

The role involves coordinating routine and preventive maintenance, working with vendors on advanced tasks, and ensuring compliance with licensing and codes.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to and coordinate routine maintenance and preventive maintenance to keep centers in excellent condition.
  • Ensure compliance with childcare licensing, health department and local building code requirements.
  • Complete light plumbing, electrical, HVAC and painting projects for repairs and maintenance.
  • Coordinate outside vendor work and supervise service providers in coordination with school Directors for advanced work.
  • Maintain safety guidelines and ensure facility safety for children and staff.
  • Manage online work order requests and attend Facilities & Construction meetings.

Job description

This full-time position is responsible for supporting all day-to-day facility-related issues for assigned New Horizon Academy and Kinderberry Hill Early Childhood Education schools. This includes direct liaison with schools, vendors, procurement, and administrative assistants. The Facility Technician will work with other internal facility technicians and outside vendors to ensure the overall integrity and operational functionality of these facilities while maintaining aesthetics and safety standards. This position reports to the Facilities Maintenance Supervisor.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Respond to and coordinate routine maintenance and periodic preventive maintenance work required to keep New Horizon Academy and/or Kinderberry Hill Child Care centers in excellent condition. Communicate with school staff to keep them informed about project schedules and the impact that projects will have on their daily activities.
  • Ensure that assigned schools comply with childcare licensing, health department and local building code requirements and regulations.
  • Complete light plumbing, electrical, HVAC and painting projects required to repair and maintain building systems.
  • Coordinate outside vendor work as needed to support schools. Plan, assign, and supervise the work of service providers in coordination with the school Directors for advanced technical work such as advanced HVAC, Electrical and plumbing work, Parking lot overlays, concrete work, etc. Monitor quality, cost, and schedule of service.
  • Works with Facilities Maintenance Supervisor to gain approval for work proposals and to ensure prompt payment of invoices.
  • Maintain company vehicle and coordinate any necessary repairs with Fleet Manager to ensure that vehicle is in safe, clean working condition.
  • Ensure facility safety for children and staff.
  • Follow safety guidelines at all times.
  • React quickly and professionally in emergency situation.
  • Manage online work order requests.
  • Maintain a clean work environment and keep all tools and equipment out of reach of children
  • Attend regular Facilities & Construction meetings and follow up with action items
  • Coordinates with Facilities Coordinator to schedule and coordinate testing and building inspections as needed for existing properties.

  • Consistent attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office products (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.).
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must pass the Applicant Background Study required by the Department of Human Services.
  • Must have documentation of U.S. citizenship or eligibility to work in the U.S.
  • Must have the physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs. from a standing position or up to 30-40 lbs. climbing a ladder or lift above the shoulders.
  • Must be able to climb upon roof for routine maintenance.
  • Must be able to bend over and crawl on hands and knees.
  • Must be able to be on your feet 8 hours per day.
BENEFITS
  • Annual Salary Range: $53,000 - $57,000
  • Yearly Bonus: Up to $1,000 per year, paid out quarterly based on company performance
