Job summary

KinderCare Learning Companies is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician to ensure the safety, functionality, and aesthetic appeal of our centers. You will collaborate with staff, manage maintenance tasks, and monitor vendor performance across multiple sites.

The role focuses on preventive maintenance, safety inspections, and upkeep of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and carpentry systems to create inviting spaces for families and children.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, playgrounds, roofing, etc. in a multi-unit environment.
• Basic knowledge of mechanical equipment; diagnose and repair malfunctions; understand preventive maintenance.
• Ability to operate a company vehicle (MVR check).
• Strong time management, professional communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to read and apply facility maintenance manuals, technical bulletins, drawings, plans, specifications.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently and collaboratively.
• Proficiency operating work devices; e.g., iPhone, iPad, laptop if provided.

Responsibilities

• Schedule and conduct regular preventive maintenance at assigned centers including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, lighting, and carpentry; minor plumbing work.
• Conduct safety and security inspections of playgrounds and property.
• Assist with inspections of renovations and new construction; identify potential capital projects.
• Engage with center staff to promote best maintenance practices.
• Engage with local vendors for complex repairs and monitor vendor performance.
• Order materials, update/create work orders, and provide status updates using CMMS.

As a Facilities Maintenance Technician you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety, functionality, and aesthetic appeal of our centers, making them inviting spaces for the families and children. RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Schedule and conduct regular preventative maintenance at assigned centers. This includes work on Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems, electrical systems, plumbing, mechanical systems, lighting, and general carpentry. You will also handle minor plumbing work.
• Conduct safety and security inspections of playgrounds and property.
• Assist with inspections of renovations and new construction projects and identify potential capital replacement projects.
• Actively engage with center staff to promote best practices in facility maintenance.
• Engage with local vendors to complete more complex repairs and monitor vendor performance.
• Order materials, update or create work orders, and provide status updates using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Knowledge of and experience with HVAC, plumbing, playgrounds, roofing, etc. in a multi-unit environment.
• Basic knowledge of mechanical equipment and the ability to diagnose and correct equipment malfunctions, as well as a solid understanding of basic machinery preventive maintenance and repair.
• Qualified to operate a company vehicle based on a motor vehicle record check and company policy.
• Strong time management, professional communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to read, understand, and apply facility maintenance manuals, technical bulletins, construction drawings, plans, and specifications.
• Self-motivated and capable of working independently and collaboratively.
• Proficiency in operating work-related electronic equipment; (e.g., iPhone, iPad, laptop if provided).
