Job summary

Magic Valley Electric Cooperative is seeking a Facilities Technician to maintain the cooperative's facilities and grounds in a clean, neat, and orderly fashion. The role reports to the Facilities Manager and requires experience in building and grounds maintenance as well as basic trades.

The position entails operating maintenance equipment, performing preventative maintenance, and ensuring safety rules are followed.

Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or GED is required and two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in facilities maintenance.
  • Must have a valid Texas Driver's License.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

  • Proficiently uses basic power tools and maintenance equipment.
  • Performs repairs and maintenance on buildings, grounds and equipment including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, masonry and painting.
  • Completes facilities service tickets and meeting setup requests.
  • Performs general cleaning of the facilities including cleaning bathrooms, breakrooms, trash removal, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, polishing fixtures, glass cleaning and floor care.
  • Clean all ceilings, light fixtures, air vents, exhaust vents, smoke alarms, walls, etc.
  • Maintain and refill all office dispensers including soap, paper towels, toilet paper, and air fresheners.
  • Maintain and stock all breakrooms and customer service areas with beverages and supplies.
  • Keep inventory of equipment and supplies and inform the Facilities Manager of replacement and restocking needs.
  • Performs landscaping, including cuts and trims grass, trims shrubbery and maintains office grounds.
  • Clean and maintain HVAC, electrical, and storage closets.
  • Perform floor care including stripping, sealing, waxing, and buffing.
  • Maintain and use floor care power equipment.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance and inspections of buildings, equipment, and grounds.
  • Assist in renovations as requested by the Facilities Manager (painting and refinishing floors).
  • Be responsible for all tools and equipment assigned.
  • Ensure doors and gates are secured at end of day.
  • Perform other duties as directed by the Facilities Manager.
  • Observe all safety rules.

I. POSITION SUMMARY

  • A. Proficiently uses basic power tools and maintenance equipment.
  • B. Performs repairs and maintenance on buildings, grounds and equipment that includes but is not limited to electrical, plumbing, carpentry, masonry and painting.

Required Experience
V. POSITION REQUIREMENTS

******Job Knowledge, Training, and Experience: A high school diploma or G.E.D. is required and two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in facilities maintenance.

Equipment Operated: Must be able to operate maintenance and cleaning equipment assigned.

Abilities and Skills: Must be able to perform the activities necessary to complete work assignments described in the position description. Must have the ability to communicate effectively with management, coworkers, other cooperative personnel, and the public. Must have the ability to communicate, verbally and in written form in English. Must have a valid Texas Driver's License.

Physical Effort: Must be able to frequently lift, push, pull, or carry objects weighing up to 60 lbs. Must be able to continuously stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and climb stairs or ladders. Must be able to maintain a steady, active pace in all weather conditions for 4-8 hours, covering significant distances in a shift.

Working Conditions: Inside and outside work in all kinds of weather. Some overtime may be required.

After an offer of employment has been made, a physical examination will be required which will include both drug and alcohol testing.
