Job summary

American Red Cross in Las Vegas, NV seeks a skilled maintenance technician to join our facilities team. Under limited supervision, you will repair and maintain facilities, machinery, and equipment across carpentry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and welding trades.

You will test, troubleshoot, and read blueprints, report safety concerns, and mentor volunteers when needed. This full-time role involves 10% travel and reports to the Southern Nevada chapter.

Qualifications

• Education: High School or equivalent; trade license may be required.
• Experience: 5+ years in maintenance trades (painting, HVAC, carpentry, plumbing, electrical).
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• Basic writing and communication skills; may have on-call duties.
• Willingness to drive between locations.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair facilities and properties; fix minor electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and structural problems; paint as needed.
• Repair appliances and equipment; operate boilers, chillers, motors, pumps, and related equipment; estimate time and material costs.
• Review maintenance records; plan and implement corrective maintenance or repairs.
• Troubleshoot and repair HVAC equipment.
• Follow safety procedures and OSHA-like guidelines.
• Support operations, including fleet coordination; drive to other locations.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW (Job Overview):

Under limited supervision, perform repairs and maintenance in plant or office facilities, or on machines and equipment. Typically perform work in one or more of the maintenance trades: carpentry, plumbing, painting, machine and equipment repair, electrical, sheet metal fabrication, and welding. Conduct routine, periodic, or special inspections to determine repair and maintenance work necessary to prevent breakdowns of facilities, machinery, and equipment. Use hand and power tools to test, inspect, troubleshoot, and repair machines and equipment. Use blueprints, sketches, layouts, wiring diagrams, drawings, and specifications. May train or check the work of other facilities staff. Provide support, development and/or leadership guidance to all volunteers.Perform all duties and responsibilities in compliance with standard operating procedures and other applicable Federal, State and local regulations.This role is not eligible for relocation assistance. This will report to our Southern Nevada chapter office in Las Vegas, NV 5 days a week. This is a full time role. Travel required - 10%.

The hourly range for this position is : $24.62/hr

WHERE YOUR CAREER IS A FORCE FOR GOOD (Key Responsibilities)

• Maintain and repair organization's facilities and properties involving routine tasks and responsibilities. Correct minor electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and structural problems. Paint structures and equipment as needed. Document installation and repairs as required by regulatory agencies.
• Repair appliances and equipment. Operate and service boilers, chillers, motors, fans, pumps and related mechanical equipment. Estimate time and material costs of various projects. Requisition new supplies and equipment.
• Review maintenance records to identify recurring deficiencies; plan and implement corrective maintenance or repairs.
• May troubleshoot and repair all building HVAC related equipment.
• Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
• May support business operations activities, including fleet vehicle coordination and day-to-day operational support as needed.
• Will drive vehicle to other locations.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED (Minimum Qualifications):

• Education: High School or equivalent required. May require a trade license.
• Experience: Minimum 5 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience required. Related experience includes skill and knowledge of painting, HVAC, carpentry, plumbing, masonry and electrical work is required.

• Skills & Abilities: Previous truck and/or bus driving experience is desirable. Must have basic writing and communication skills. May be required to have basic computer skills. May have on-call duties. Ability to work on a team.
• A current valid driver's license and good driving record is required.
• Travel: Will drive vehicle to other locations.
