The job duties of the Facilities Technician include but are not limited to performing a variety of semi-skilled and skilled tasks in the construction, maintenance, and repair of the Village’s facilities and the components within those facilities within the village; and to provide responsive, courteous, and efficient service to Village residents and the general public. Assist in the removal of snow and ice from Village streets, sidewalks, parking lots, and other Village facilities.
Facilities Technician I: This is the entry-level classification in the Facilities Division Technician series. This classification is distinguished by the performance of less than the full range of duties assigned to the journeyman-level classification within this series. This class is typically used as a training level for those positions and may have limited or no directly related work experience. Incumbents work under immediate supervision while learning job tasks, including the operation of applicable equipment, tools, and machinery.
Facilities Technician II: This is the journeyman-level class in the Facilities Technician series. This classification is distinguished by the performance of the full range of duties assigned to the Technician I and II, with only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise; the ability to pass on knowledge to less experienced staff; and the ability to serve as a lead worker over a crew.
Facilities Crew Leader: This is the foreman-level classification in the Facilities Technician series. This classification is distinguished by the ability to serve as a lead worker over a crew(s) and/or supervisor within the assigned area of responsibility. This position must perform more complex and responsible tasks and duties within the work unit, including training less experienced employees, planning and assigning projects and tasks, and handling a variety of administrative duties.
