Job summary

United Surgical Partners International is seeking a Facility Tech for a full-time role at a Phoenix-area facility. Under the Facilities Manager, the technician performs preventive maintenance on building systems, repairs equipment, and assists with routine tasks to ensure continuous operations.

The role requires basic maintenance skills, tool proficiency, and ability to work in a hospital environment; candidate should be able to handle overtime and call-backs as needed.

Qualifications

  • High school graduate, technical or tradeschool preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Inspects equipment and facility for proper operation and working conditions; maintains routine inspections and repairs as necessary; tests after repairs.
  • Reports more serious problems to supervisor for instructions or scheduling.
  • Uses plumbers’ snakes or augers to clear clogged drains.
  • Troubleshoots and replaces TVs, remote controls, nurse call lights, etc.
  • Proficient with standard hand tools, voltmeter, and ammeter.
  • Performs routine manual duties such as repairs and assembling carts and furniture, replacing fluorescent ballasts and tubes, and lubricating motors.
  • Cleans sinks and greases traps, assembles non-medical equipment.
  • May move supplies, furniture, and equipment; removes trash.
  • Performs general floor cleaning and maintenance with cleaning equipment.
  • Conducts routine safety and preventive maintenance inspections.
  • Patches and paints walls and machinery.
  • Upholds department policies on quality, safety, and infection control.

Job Summary

Under the direction of the Facilities Manager, the Maintenance Technician performs a variety of routine to skilled general preventive maintenance duties in the repair, alteration and modification of building equipment, and facilities.

Duties and Responsibilities Include
  • Inspects equipment and facility for proper operation and working conditions, maintains routine equipment inspections and repairs as necessary, adjusts, dissembles and repairs or replaces parts or components and test for proper operation.
  • Reports more serious problems to his supervisor for further instructions or maintenance scheduling.
  • Uses plumbers, snakes, augers or plungers to open clogged drains.
  • Troubleshoots and replaces TV‚s, remote controls, nurse call lights, etc.
  • Proficiently uses standard hand tools, voltmeter, and amp meter.
  • Performs a variety of routine manual duties as required, such as repairs and assembling carts and furniture, replacing fluorescent ballasts and tubes, cleaning and lubricating motors and other machinery.
  • Clear sink and grease traps, assembles non-medical equipment.
  • Sometimes required to move supplies, furniture and equipment, removing trash and scrap materials, etc.
  • Performs general floor cleaning/maintenance, uses floor cleaning equipment, auto scrubber, auto burnishing.
  • Conducts routine safety and preventive maintenance inspections to ensure that services are maintained without interruption.
  • Patch and paint walls, rooms, machinery and other surfaces.
  • Maintains established department policies, procedures and objectives concerning quality assurance, safety, environmental conditions and infection control.

Assumes responsibility for personal and professional growth through participation in department meetings, in-service programs and continuing education programs

Maintains a professional attitude with patients, visitors and other hospital personnel while assuring confidentiality of patient and other hospital information.

Work a flex schedule and be available for overtime call-back for emergencies.

Assists Hospitality Services Management team with Hospitality assignments upon request as needed.

  • Six months experience in general maintenance and general floor.
Licenses/Certifications/Registrations
  • Care experience preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • General knowledge of plant maintenance.
  • Knowledge of tools and their use.
  • Knowledge of equipment used in hospitals.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills in English.
