Job summary

United Surgical Partners International (USPI) through Arizona Specialty Hospital seeks a Facility Tech to perform a range of preventive maintenance duties in hospital facilities. Under the direction of the Facilities Manager, you will inspect equipment, perform repairs, and ensure safe operation, with opportunities for professional growth.

You will use standard tools, participate in safety and infection-control practices, and support Hospitality Services as needed.

Qualifications

  • High school graduate, technical or trade school preferred.
  • Six months experience in general maintenance and general floor.
  • Care experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of plant maintenance, tools, and hospital equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Performs routine to skilled general preventive maintenance on building equipment and facilities.
  • Inspects equipment and facility for proper operation and working conditions; tests and repairs as needed.
  • Uses plumbing tools to clear clogged drains and maintains plumbing systems.
  • Repairs and replaces parts, tests operation, and documents maintenance actions.
  • Maintains floors and surfaces, cleans and lubricates machinery, and assists with safety and infection-control practices.

Job Summary

Under the direction of the Facilities Manager, the Maintenance Technician performs a variety of routine to skilled general preventive maintenance duties in the repair, alteration and modification of building equipment, and facilities.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Inspects equipment and facility for proper operation and working conditions, maintains routine equipment inspections and repairs as necessary, adjusts, dissembles and repairs or replaces parts or components and test for proper operation.
  • Reports more serious problems to his supervisor for further instructions or maintenance scheduling.
  • Uses plumbers, snakes, augers or plungers to open clogged drains.
  • Troubleshoots and replaces TV‚s, remote controls, nurse call lights, etc.
  • Proficiently uses standard hand tools, voltmeter, and amp meter.
  • Performs a variety of routine manual duties as required, such as repairs and assembling carts and furniture, replacing fluorescent ballasts and tubes, cleaning and lubricating motors and other machinery.
  • Clear sink and grease traps, assembles non-medical equipment.
  • Sometimes required to move supplies, furniture and equipment, removing trash and scrap materials, etc.
  • Performs general floor cleaning/maintenance, uses floor cleaning equipment, auto scrubber, auto burnishing.
  • Conducts routine safety and preventive maintenance inspections to ensure that services are maintained without interruption.
  • Patch and paint walls, rooms, machinery and other surfaces.
  • Maintains established department policies, procedures and objectives concerning quality assurance, safety, environmental conditions and infection control.

Assumes responsibility for personal and professional growth through participation in department meetings, in-service programs and continuing education programs

  • Maintains a professional attitude with patients, visitors and other hospital personnel while assuring confidentiality of patient and other hospital information.
  • Work a flex schedule and be available for overtime call-back for emergencies.

Assists Hospitality Services Management team with Hospitality assignments upon request as needed.
